I think that once we start stringing together more of these elite defensive performances and the players show Keefe that he can truly trust them in high leverage situations, he will give guys the green light to push the offense a little more. He's clearly trying to make a point.

I don't think that's what's going to happen, not after the last two performances. Maybe if somehow the offense gets stifled but we've been seeing that lately and nothing has changed.

I mean we're 30+ games in as an elite defense. If that is the point then that point been made.

We have certainly not been elite defensively for all 30 games. The overall numbers on the season are pretty good but there's been plenty of stinkers. We have allowed +4 goals in 10 of our 30 games, including 3 in the last 7 since Thanksgiving. Obviously a lot of that is on the goalies, but still.

Even in the aggregate, we're:
12th best in CA/60
9th best in FA/60
6th best xGF%
11th best at GA/60

Those are really good and a huge improvement from the Ruff years. But I wouldn't call them elite, at least not yet. They need to have games like last night and the Toronto game (defensively) much more consistently before we can really be considered elite defensively, at least to me.

Any other old heads (like from 2013-2014) remember how you could make fake Facebook convos with pics and profiles for coaches and players or whoever you wanted? I remember a couple people making them with DeBoer going at it with Larsson and Josefson, maybe even Gelinas too, and Cory and telling him he couldn’t play because he was the backup and the other guys were too soft and bad lol.

Anyway, I think it would be funny to make one with Nichols arguing with Bill about physicality costing them lol.

I can’t get over his comment about Cotter trying to get to the tunnel but not being able to make it. How can he even spot specific players on the bench from way up where he’s sitting? No way he could zero in on a player from all the wAttach filesay up there without binoculars.

Unless he’s sitting facing the back of the bench and can read numbers from up there, but how could he get a read on what Cotter was trying to do from all the way up there?

The best was that it was actually a real post of mine about flashing Markstrom being 4th in the league in wins and it was right when they showed that exact clip. It brought me right to making that post when that very clip was shown on TV.
