So you would want Caps round 1 and then most likely the Canes round 2 barring a surprise instead of the other way around?

I know the Canes have had our number (though TBF the Caps have too before this year), but they seem more vulnerable this year and their goalie woes can be exploited.

Yeah, probably. As hard as I've been on Markstrom, those are two series he'd need to royally f*** up in net imo for us to lose. If he plays above average then we would do well in those series. The issue is the Canes play in such a way that Markstrom could get pummeled. We'll see when we get there, I'm gonna enjoy the rest of the regular season similar to 22/23.

Thank you and to everyone else that sent their best wishes to Pavel Barka. He will not go in the back yard unless I go with him. Pavey decided that he wanted to sleep with my youngest son tonight but he can't jump on his bed so my kid took his pillows and blankets on the floor to spend the night.
Happy to hear all is well with him.

I’d like to say that maybe the lack of shots could be hurting Markstrom and causing some of these weak goals the last two games. Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought I saw or heard something where he said he liked to face more shots. Or maybe it was some kind of stat or some statistician saying Markstrom is a goalie who suffers when not consistent getting work in-game.

I know for sure a lot of goalies wanted to face some shots early. Luongo was notoriously one of them and was vocal about it. He said he liked to feel the puck early.

Patrick Roy also said something like he grew more confident in himself and got more comfortable the more shots he faced, and so did a lot of people who played both with him and against him. They said it got harder to score the more shots he faced without giving one up.

Marty was one of the very few who said he had no problem with going long periods of time without facing a shot, and it didn’t really throw him off or make him fall asleep or anything.

Even Cotter-Haula-Noesen managed to not get caved for a night! 79% xG tonight. They were the one line the other night that sucked

That's because the Kings play ultra conservative on offense with their 2 D on the other side of the ice having a smoothie with their goalie.

What happened to Dawson?
He took a puck to the face. He should be okay for Saturday, even if he has to fishbowl it.

There was only like 8 minutes left in the game or something when he left, so they either held him out because that wasn’t enough time to fix him up and get him back out there or for precautionary reasons.

Any other old heads (like from 2013-2014) remember how you could make fake Facebook convos with pics and profiles for coaches and players or whoever you wanted? I remember a couple people making them with DeBoer going at it with Larsson and Josefson, maybe even Gelinas too, and Cory and telling him he couldn’t play because he was the backup and the other guys were too soft and bad lol.

Anyway, I think it would be funny to make one with Nichols arguing with Bill about physicality costing them lol.

I can’t get over his comment about Cotter trying to get to the tunnel but not being able to make it. How can he even spot specific players on the bench from way up where he’s sitting? No way he could zero in on a player from all the way up there without binoculars.

Unless he’s sitting facing the back of the bench and can read numbers from up there, but how could he get a read on what Cotter was trying to do from all the way up there?

Noticed this in the highlights. A thing of beauty from Jack…

Hamilton gets caught pinching at the blueline leaving Dillon as the lone dman back and a potential 2-on-1 if there is no forward support. Jack notices this and is in a good position

IMG_5581.png

Jack tracks down the passing option on the potential 2-on-1 allowing Dillon to pressure the puck carrier.

Dillon allows a shot but Jack remains in a good spot to clean up a potential rebound.

Jack’s all around game has grown leaps and bounds this season. Just a beautiful sequence to watch. He gets 3 points tonight but a play like this can go unnoticed. He deserves a lot of credit.

On the contrary. Isn’t that where Markstrom shines? Flames fans have said he is much better in high shot games, and we have seen that a bit this season

photoshop labor camp somewhere in MN

Glad to see him develop a full game this year and not trying to one man show it through a crowd. His bad habits under Ruff seem to have evaporated for the most part and he's maturing even since the "people pay to see me play" crap. I'm glad he's looking to players like Bratt and Nico at learning examples for the defensive side of the puck.

There was a very short stretch recently where they lost their lead but they've gotten it back in a HUGE way

Both the Sieg/Kovy and Anderson/Gavrikov pairings played tonight and only one was on the ice for a GA.

The uncool, loser one obviously.

Yeah but he's also given up some weird ass goals when teams shoot from everywhere like some of the Detroit and Caps games which is what Carolina does. We'll see, I want him to prove him wrong, I get no joy being mad at him as much as it seems like when I'm venting about him lol
