The idea wasn't to get an average player but an established goalie for 2 years. The choices were him for a first and 2 years with us, trading for Askarov and hoping he was OK (rookie goalie with our goalie coach could have been disaster), or one of the Boston goalies just so we could saddle up with them for 8x8.5The goaltending is mediocre and it also limits us at the deadline to get a forward for Bratt/Jack this year. It's not just a whatever first, lol. You don't trade firsts for average players in return. I've also said the Devils are good with Markstrom but what's the end game with Markstrom? Just making the playoffs and then looking for another goalie to sink assets into?
Who are…yadda yadda…where’s Dylan?Palats best game of the year for sure
Asking price for Palat is now a first plus more.

We could have held that pick, ran with Daws and Allen and listened to how we still didn't end up getting a goalie, but had an extra 6M that Fitz could have used on a free agent winger OR to get another Frankenstein player into the lineup.
Pesce and Dillon cost you ~10M. Did we need both with the defensive depth in the organization? That may be the better argument as to why we have no winger for for Jack and Bratt.
Also - Now Palat is suddenly a beast so maybe they found their wing
As many as he wants, baby. How many charity wristbands does Jack have?
Easy now still not worth 6 mil. lolStep aside G7. We've got the new reason why Palat's worth his contract.
Sal knows,Sal just convinced me Palat is the secret sauce to the Hughes Bratt line.
