If you are unfamiliar with how things go:

- I will begin with a list of 10 prospects who may not align perfectly with my exact top-10 list, but ones where I think there's more interest and enthusiasm.

- Your votes will be public, and you get one vote in the poll

- You are encouraged to mention who should go on the list next

- I won't vote on any of them, except if it's needed as a tiebreaker

- As always, discussion is half the fun, so feel free to talk it out.

- Feel free to use any criteria you want. It's your vote after all. Some general factors others have used: NHL readiness, upside, role, likelihood to make the NHL, tradability value, or any combination of the above factors.

- I'll start with 48-hour long polls, I'll eventually reduce it to 24 hours as the discussions and participation/voting decreases

- The criteria I am using for this particular poll is Calder Trophy eligibility. Please note there are plenty of other different criteria which can be used (ie, under 23, < 50 games played, etc). The list of those eligible to add will be at the bottom. Now, this criteria may be very strict and make the team look worse due to younger players who no longer match the criteria... but this is what I always use, and will stick with it due to continuity. These are the requirements for Calder Trophy eligibility:

1. Must be under 26 years old by September 15

2. Cannot have played more than 25 games in a single season OR at least 6 games in each of any two preceding seasons in any major professional league

The following players were removed from last year's list last year due to making these criteria or no longer being part of the system:

Clarke, Brandt - D (Games Played)
Doyle, Braden - D (Not Signed)
Fagemo, Samuel - F (Games Played)
Laferriere, Alex - F (Games Played)
Markkanen, Juho - G (Not Signed)
Meehan, Ben - D (Not Signed)
Moverare, Jacob - D (Games Played)
Nousiainen, Kim - D (Not Signed)
Simontaival, Kasper - F (Not Signed)
Turcotte, Alex - F (Games Played)
Ward, Taylor - F (Age)

Here is the list of prospects eligible to be added (sorted alphabetically by last name).

Booth, Angus - LD
Chromiak, Martin - RW
Conmy, Ryan - RW
Helenius, Samuel - C
Hughes, Jack - C
Krygier, Cole - LD
Lawrence, Kaleb - LW
Madden, Tyler - C
Pinelli, Francesco - C
Reeder, James - RW
Salin, Otto - RD
Sparkes, Jack - RD
Shafigullin, Bulat - LW
Woolley, Jared - LD
Wright, Jared - LW

What's interesting is how the three goalies end up rankings wise for folks. Then ultimately, how they end up career wise. You have an older goalie who was pretty well rated and very good college success that is close to NHL ready now. A teenager who was note known and unheralded that had a huge first year exploding onto the scene. Finally, a very well regarded 2nd round pick. Very interesting to see how posters view these three ranking wise. You could make an easy case for any of those guys being 1, 2 or 3 (among our goalies).

Went with Thomas. NHL ready and still has some upside.

I have a conundrum with the goalies. I like all of them, but I feel weird voting them this high. Portillo is the closest to the NHL. As well as Hampton has played since he got drafted, he still hasn't seen NCAA ice yet and still maybe 3 years away from the AHL. George will be in the AHL in at least 2 years. Portillo might have the highest floor, but maybe the lowest ceiling of the 3. Could go with any of them in the upcoming polls.

Add Pinelli please

I think this is exactly how I feel.
Plus, both Dvorak and KK is a bit unknowns due to Russia and/or injuries. It's hard to compare what both these guys are right now. Either could contend for the #2-3 spots on this list -- or outside the top 5-10.

The reason I will struggle to rank the goalies is that I essentially agree with @kingsboy11

Portillo might be a #1 but is a solid bet for at least a #2. Whereas both the others have high ceiling’s but could equally bust. They’ll either be AHL guys or annual Vezina candidates.

I think I likely put Conmy (I rate him highly) and Kirsanov ahead of them. Maybe Lee also. I think Wright should be ranked top 10 also.

I’m disagreeing with myself though as I can also justify all three goalies at 4-6 (in any order). It has suddenly become incredibly exciting in the goaltender department, that’s for sure. Props to Yannetti, they’ve done an incredible job here tbf.

So Brandt Clarke is no longer a Calder eligible prospect?? how in the world is that possible?

By the way, I see more people are voting for Slukynsky than Portillo...which doesn't quite make sense to me. One had a good year in the AHL, the other in the USHL, with the AHL being a much higher level of competition. At this point Portillo is the better prospect, but down the road Hampton could overtake him - we'll see.

He played 16 games last season and 9 games the season before. He passed the 6+ games in two preceding seasons threshold.

People use different criteria - some use NHL readiness. Some use upside. Portillo's almost 5 years older.

At the same age, Slukynsky has better numbers in the same league. Ultimately, Pirtillo is still improved. There's no guarantee Slukynsky will improve at the same level or degree. But there are valid arguments for both.
