Sherwood has been outstanding for us this year, he has been a great add. Might be the best value signing of the offseason at 2x1.5.

I’ve always been shocked at the lack of hits in the NHL.

IMO there should be many players that hit the amount that Sherwood does. I always laugh when I read about certain players and how physical they are and by the end of the season they average like just over 1 hit a game. That’s insane to me only playing the body once a game and being considered a physical player

How majority of dmen don’t get atleast 250 hits ish(roughly 3 hits a game/1 a period)a year astounds me… even 1 body check a period is light lol

I get what youre saying, but you may just be underestimating the amount of opportunities one gets to dish out a legal hit in a given shift/game. Most grinders play less than 12 min/game, and the difference between a legal hit and interference is about a second.

Also the more you hit the more prone to injury you become longterm, so I think many offensive players try not to incorporate that in their game as much. Think of players like Kessel, Jagr, Lidstrom, Sakic etc, almost never got injured and also never hit..... Some exceptions like Ovechkin, who is just a medical wonder. Then theres a guy like Brady Tkachuk, Im curious how much he can keep it up over the next decade or so. Could very well breakdown into his 30s like say Lucic did.

Chasing a hit equals death for dmen at this level of play and speed , especially recently. There's alot of physical play/pinning on the boards that dosen't really count for hits either

Ya I notice that a lot in games … I’m always curious what they consider a hit… I’ve seen many many games where I literally see a player do 2 decent size hits in a shift and it doesn’t get counted for some reason. I’m in a hockey pool that includes hits so I notice these things during games lol
