3 more years at 7.1, dont think 1-2 mil retention makes any difference.
pretty sure Philly would retain 50% for this year only.
price would be good c prospect and picks.

I dont expect any of this to happen.
you are just fooling around looking to establish signed players value or you have a team in mind who could lokk to get him?
It would help to know.

60 pts 7.1 mil a tad overpaid but seen way worse. Production 50-60 pace not drying up.

You can’t retain salary for part of a contract. It’s all of it or none of it.

Even at $4M per for 3 yrs with new team he doesn’t vcarry much value.
Disagree there.

With JVR 7 mil off the books, money aint an issue for Philly next year. So no reason to retain.

Flyers fans: Yes please take we'll retain as much as needed.

Flyers Management: Heck no we're winning the cup this year.
How does retaining on Hayes for 3 yrs help anything?
Not willing to retain for 3 yrs doesnt mean they are chasing the Cup. That rhetoric is getting old.

one of those players that seems way overpaid even though his numbers say he is not that bad.
So true. Very few neutral fans or even Flyers fans mock JVR as much as KH even though KH produced a little better for same 7 mil and is more than a pp specialist.

I wouldn’t mind Hayes to CAR, provided PHI retains at least $1.5M, if not more, and the price wasn’t too high.

Seems like he’d fit at LW next to Aho and Jarvis or as an alternate 2C if Kotkaniemi’s recent excellent stretch in an aberration. He’s got the term CAR prefers and if he only costs $5-5.5M per season for the next yrs, he’s just the the type of guy I could see the Canes go after

If Carolina is paying for Hayes and Philly is willing to retain then they may as well go the full 50%.

Hayes @50% for two 2024 2nd (CAR + PHI)

Awful… 2nd rounders to keep 3.5 of dead money for 3 yrs.
I assume the alternative was a buyout. Dead money is dead money.

Would easily get beat.

As an Avs fan I'd offer up quite a bit for Hayes @50%. Newhook + 2023 1st to start.
The Avs are one of the only other teams in the league with the need for an offensive 2C and a team strong enough to support Hayes' deficiencies.

If Philly gets offered that from Colorado then they should take it. I don't think Carolina offers 1sts or top prospects for Hayes. Maybe Jack Drury on top of a 2024 1st + 2nd.

What? Alternative is playing the guy 3 more years. nobody is contemplating a buyout for Hayes.
