Absolutely love this kid. Curious if his loss tonight will want him to stay for a senior year or not. Hopefully not because I think it's about time for him to head to Manchester.

Agree. Before the lockout I identified that Greene was the only player we had no replacement for in our teams' system. Nice to know we should have that player now in the near future...but only if he comes to Manchester.

I don't see Gravel being like Greene at all. Gravel is smarter and uses positioning more. Also don't see him ever being near as physical as Greene, who is one of the more physical, crease clearing d man in the game. I see Gravel as Willie Mitchell without the offense that Willie's found in the past few years in LA. And that's a BIG compliment to Kevin coming from me. Hopefully we get to see him on a pair with either one of Drew or Slava for years and years to come.

HF: The Kings are obviously the reigning Stanley Cup champions, so to be part of an organization like that has to feel pretty special.

KG: Yeah, definitely. I can’t say that I wasn’t rooting for them, but it was nice to see them win that cup.

That's it. TRADE HIM.

He looks more like a Rob Scuderi to me.

This is what I was thinking in my limited viewing. Doesn't blow anyone up, but he makes a little more contact on the boards than Scuderi. Actually pretty good vision with the puck, but was making safe plays. Similar to Scuderi in that even the most skilled forwards out there would try to attack them but he'd just casually disarm them and move the puck.

I think pro footspeed and board strength is gonna give him a bit of an adjustment period, but he plays a simple game that should translate very well.

Yep, he's very good positionally, and plays the game calmly and mostly risk free, just like Scuderi. He is a perfect example of a player that when you haven't noticed him all game, that means he's done a great job out there.

It's why I advocated for him to be pulled from college this year. He has the smarts to adjust to the AHL without getting overwhelmed by it.

What I mean is in our depth chart, not in play style.

For example, Richardson is not like Nolan or Clifford but I see him as a substitute for those guys.

The Kings are so deep at every position, especially at the top slots, that you can have the 13th and 14th forwards sub in even for someone like Kopitar. Lets say Kopi is hurt...well we can have Carter sub for him, Toffoli (our 14th forward) sub for Carter on the 2nd line. If Doughty gets hurt, Voynov subs for him, AMart can sub for Voynov and someone like Muzzin can sub for AMart (I think AMart bounces back...he's also recovering).

If Mitchell gets hurt and Gravel was in a development stage like Toffoli is now, then Scuderi can sub for Mitchell, Greene for Scuderi and a player like Gravel for Greene.

In the past, when only one guy was hurt, typically we kept the pairings the same and just recalled someone to fill in the injured guy.

For example, if Greene was injured, we'd leave the other two pairings alone and recall someone to play for Greene, usually the guy who is most ready to make the jump, regardless of playing style.

S0 far another prospect of ours that I have overhyped looks like he might be as good as advertised. He is more of a tough stay at home with solid skating guy then anything else but it is also fair to say that he is a smart passer too. He is going to be another great young D for us without a doubt.
