Signing(s): Ketel Marte signs extension with the Diamondbacks

This deal makes no sense.

He was already signed through his age 34 season and in today's MLB nobody can hit after age 35. Why you would want to pay that much to buy the age 35-37 seasons from a non-superstar player years ahead of time, I can't even fathom.

I don't know how much Ketel Marte you watch, but when he's healthy, he is undoubtedly a superstar player. The problem for him is staying healthy.

Guys like Freddie, Altuve; Springer, Sal Perez, Santana still produce. In before someone says a couple of these guys are off to slow starts. Paul Goldschmidt. Some people put way too much faith in analytics. You telling my Bryce and Aaron Judge fall off a cliff at 35. Theres been countless guys in their mid to late 30's that have kicked ass over the last decade at the dish.

Lots of roided-up guys in the 1990s and 2000s could hit 92 MPH fastballs at age 35-38.

Virtually nobody that age can hit 98-100 MPH in today's game ... save Goldschmidt who has had a crazy/bizarre resurrection this year after having the predictable career decline over the past few years.

Freddie Freeman is 35 now and looks like he might be a unicorn, too. But that's about it.

Judge is so good that even when he declines he's still be above-average, sure.
