I wouldn't do it for Kessel, and I'm not exactly thrilled with Perry's effort the past couple of seasons.

Kessel has 24 points in 25 games this season and just came off a near Conn Smythe win. He's almost ppg in the playoffs over his career. Why would the Pens trade him?

You also want to retain 1.8 million capspace for 6 years to make it equal? Why not just keep Perry? He has good chemistry with Getzlaf does he not?

If the Ducks are trying to get rid of Perry I would hope that the Flames would be in on it. He would be the absolute perfect fit on RW here.

Perry would be the perfect winger for Crosby, but at the same time, Kessel is Kessel. I don't understand why this thread was made to be honest, neither team is looking to move their star winger. I think Kessel and Perry are on the same level, but the Pens just won a cup with Kessel coming in 2nd for the Conn Smythe

I'm wondering why you would do it since you created the thread?

Kessel adds more speed to our lineup and he is younger.

Perry would be perfect kind of player to play with Crosby that is a possible reason.

Retaining to improve odds of Penguins saying yes. Kessel brings speed and is younger. Sure he does but he isn't scoring goals like expected hasn't since last playoffs.

If the Ducks are trying to get rid of Perry I would hope that the Flames would be in on it. He would be the absolute perfect fit on RW here.

If Ducks are trading Perry it would be for another high scoring winger and Flames have just 1 player fitting that bill so...

Pacioretty + 1st rd pick or an A prospect for Perry ?

Any prospect except Sergachev. (Ideally not McCarron either).

With Maybe 1.625 mil retained so Perry at 7, Pacioretty at 4.5 + 1.625 = 6.125. Ducks still save a little money.

This makes no sense for either team. The Pen's game is built on speed. Why would they take speed out of their line up? Add to that they'd be adding more salary to their cap, it would be a bad choice on their part.

Perry is a good player, but for the most part, doesn't really add anything to the Pens that Kessel doesn't already have in terms of scoring.

As for being a winger for Crosby, there's no guarantee that will work out. Why mess with a line up that just won you the cup? The Pens have three players, Crosby, Malkin, and Kessel, that each drive their own line. That was one of the keys that won them the Cup. Why remove that key element now?

I wouldn't as a Pens fan. I think Kessel is a better fit for PIT. He allows them better options to play 3 lines then I think Perry would. I think Perry is a little more dependent on his C then Kessel is.

Ducks would retain some so no negative effect on Penguins cap hit.

The Pens wouldn't touch this. Their team identity is attacking with speed. Perry is a sloth who has forgotten how to score goals.

I wouldn't even do this as a Ducks fan because it still doesn't make us a true contender. I've said since last summer we need to rebuild because a Getzlaf/Perry core isn't winning anything. That would mean looking for prospects/picks for those 2 not guys like Kessel/Pacioretty that would just leave us stuck in mediocrity.

It doesn't make the Pens better and really messes with our line chemistry eg Hagelin is at his best with Kessel, Hornqvist doesn't mesh well with Malkin (if Perry was to play with Sid) etc.

That and I just love Phil.

Yea I don't think they would take it but you never know maybe they would love Crosby and Perry together.

We could have a forward lineup something like.

Ritchie - Getzlaf - Rakell
Cogliano - Kesler - Silfverberg
Kase - Vermette - Kessel
Garbutt - Shaw - Wagner

That would be 3 lines that could score. we would be a better team then we currently are. I don't see us able to make any moves that would make us that true contender and we are also not going to be rebuilding yet either so why not just make this move?

Lol Crosby is doing just fine and Kessel is doing good with Malkin

Crosby is Crosby but imagine Crosby with Perry

That's why we don't do it. Kessel, Crosby and Malkin on seperate lines is hard to defend against. Also Kessel has 8 teams he can be traded to and most likely really happy in Pittsburgh.

Kessel fits and helped us to win a cup. No reason to change things for the sake of change. Same position, roughly same age, roughly same cap.

Even if Rutherford slightly prefers Perry or his contract, it isn't worth trading Kessel's on and off ice chemistry with teammates for a guy who may or may not have chemistry.

We have a net presence for our PP and Kessel is a big part of our speed game.

Why on earth would the Pens do this? Get slow motion Perry for their team build on speed.

It makes no sense.

Both teams say no

Kessel fits with the penguin identity of speed.and anahiem says no because then they would be forced to see kessel and Getzlaf to pass to one another in the o zone refusing to shoot and then boom. Other team has a breakaway
