What type of player or package would you offer for him with his current contract ?

What type of contract would you offer if he became a UFA this summer?

He would be worth a ton to a every team. Over the last three seasons he is 17th in goals scored. That’s more than Kyle Connor, Steven Stamkos, Jason Robertson, Brady Tkachuk, and Sydney Crosby, just to name a few. He just turned 28, he is the best player in LA, and he’s on a sweetheart deal. He’s one of the best players in the league on one of the best contracts in the league. $5.5 million for a point per game player in his prime. Sheesh.

You left out his Kronwall style open ice hits when he gets shifts on D.

Not going anywhere of course but I think it’s fine to have a Kempe appreciation thread. I think he’s replaced Forsberg as the most underrated star player in the league.

People kinda notice him for some of the goal scoring and putting up solid points but that’s only part of what makes him so good. It’s not just the list of players he’s more productive than - it’s that of the small handful of guys who are more productive - not many have a better combination of physicality and two-way ability. He’s a rare bird.

And the Kings get him for another 1.5 years on one of the biggest steal contracts in the league.

Kempe also PK's, 5.5m for 1 more season then he will be a UFA for the 2026 season at 29, with the cap rising he should be 8.5 at the minimum and 9.5x5 (leaves another year to sign an under 35 contract) wouldn't be an overpayment. If LA can't resign him, he should return a 1st+3rd from a contender (with a contract coming back), even as a rental.

Of course, the probability of his trade is zero.
If we just hypothetically consider its trading value: first round (15-20) + top 4 defender/top 6 winger + prospect A, imho
