I’m sure it would from your POV, but never in a million years would Chia be allowed to do that. RNH is not for sale.

For it to make any sense like Dingdong said Sekera/Lucic would have to be part of the package going back, or something like Spooner+Benning+picks/prospects.
So take our crap and give us your all star D man. Typical fan boy logic.

Hawks don’t need cap savings. They need a return worth a damn...

And Edmonton doesn’t need to be giving up prime aged contributing NHLers for fading defencemen signed until they’re geriatric.

McDavid/Drai/Nuge isn’t happening. Klefbom/Larsson/Nurse isn’t happening. Bouchard isn’t happening. It doesn’t make sense for us. If you want to patch something together outside of that, let’s have a look.

Shouldn’t you be fondly touching your Gaudreau cutout right about now? This doesn’t involve you.

The money has to make sense, as does the return. This isn’t 2011 Duncan Keith we’re talking about here, and we have squat for cap space.

The Oilers are against the cap right this moment. They cannot take on Keith unless the salary changing sides is even. I don't think it can be spelled out any clearer than that.

You would think a Hawks fan of all teams would understand this concept...

Hawks usually circumvented the cap so not too familiar with the ins and outs...

OK, then it doesn't make sense. Say that instead of you should take our crap for your #1 man and insult the opposing fan base. The fact you had to result to a personal attack says loads about you as a poster. And this is a forum where anyone can participate, pretty obvious why you got stripped being a mod.

Here is some education on the cap on Duncan Keith:

2018-19NMC$5,538,462$5,538,462$0$0$4,500,000$4,500,000$4,500,000
2019-20NMC$5,538,462$5,538,462$0$0$3,500,000$3,500,000$3,500,000
2020-21NMC$5,538,462$5,538,462$0$0$2,650,000$2,650,000$2,650,000
2021-22NMC$5,538,462$5,538,462$0$0$2,100,000$2,100,000$2,100,000
2022-23NMC$5,538,462$5,538,462$0$0$1,500,000$1,500,000$1,500,000
[TBODY] [/TBODY]

The last 3 salary brackets is what he makes in Real Dollars. The first 2 is his cap hit per year. He has 4 more years left. If you are trying to get a good return, you will have to take back a contract equal to what he is making for a team that is close to the cap. Even if Chicago ate 50% of the cap, that's 2.75M for 4 more years. I doubt Chicago will do something like that as 2.75M is still pretty significant. Not to mention he does have a NMC which he can say no to any trade. Same goes with Lucic, Sekera, or Russell. So trading for futures on Edmonton's behalf won't work. Simple as that.

But I guess 'math isn't my strong suit' :dunce:

1) I was never a mod, I was a writer. Which I had to give up for work.

2) you stomped in here and called me a fanboy so don’t whine about rocks being thrown when threw the first one.

3) We didn’t ask for Keith, OP is a Hawks fan.

4) I said Lucic or Sekera would have to be part of the package going back. I didn’t say that’s all they’d get, or even that they’d be the principal return. You need to work on your reading comprehension.

5) it’s simple math. We can’t afford Keith without significant salary going out and under no circumstances can that be in the form of a significant player on our end which - if you’d bothered to read the thread before getting indignant - I have been explaining.

6) Keith is 35 years old and declining. If you want to give up significant young assets for him, be my guest.

Good? Good.

Uhh, buddy said trade for futures and something 'good'. But how can you if you aren't taking one of the big 3 in Sekera, Lucic or Russell? Spooner, Benning, picks and prospects isn't garbage if he's looking for only that.

Also LOL on the mod comment. He was never a mod

Exactly the definition of garbage.
