GDT: End of season media availability - Pelley speaking Friday at 1PM EST

The more Florida keeps dominating wins, the more likely the Leafs are going to think they aren’t that far off.
in all honestly we had a pretty dang good hockey team, I mean we lost sure, but I thought we had a good team, I am still proud of the boys even in defeat, hopefully with the changes we make, they took a good run at this thing again next year

Good regular season team but when the going gets tough the loser core goes invisible and hides

of course, but I still think we had a very good team imo
We did. Just not a popular take right now. Understandably.

That said, based on the absolute CRUSHING of the Carolina Hurricanes - maybe we all shouldn't don't be so eager to completely blow up this Leafs team after all..??

Woof. That game 2 was an old fashioned azz-kickin'.. down 0-2.

Honestly it pisses me off even more

They had every opportunity to do something special, hell we had that 2nd series right where we wanted it if we hadn't puked all over ourselves

If you are a competitive person looking at this it would burn into your soul

Well, if that’s the case. still needs to beat Florida to win the Cup.
The best way to beat them is get their players, that way it weaken them and strengthen us.
Can do that by letting JT and MM go, find a taker for Reilly then sign Bennett, Marchand and Ekblad.

Two birds with One Stone

I wonder if that means that the gigantic front office the Leafs have now reports to BT? That’s way too much a distraction when you’re trying to build a team.

He'd be the new president without the tag. The other part of this is that the Leafs are likely going to trim down their bloated management and streamline it more, for better or worse. The GM on most teams oversee a ton of stuff regardless though. That's why it's an insanely important role and that's why having people around you that you trust is very important, and why a lot of GMs tend to bring in their own people they've worked with a lot.

Not sure I'd expect guys like Hardy and Morrison back.

Shanahan did a lot of good for this organization. He stripped it to the studs like fans were screaming for for years (and decades), having been able to convince the board and ownership to go through with it. Team took steps back so they could be able to draft the likes of Matthews, Marner and Nylander.

He hitched his wagon to Dubas, which while I wouldn't say was a complete and utter failure, it certainly was nowhere successful as many thought a supposed bright mind would do. With that, minimal playoff success was enjoyed in his tenure.

With that, while the team/franchise hasn't mired in complete obscurity like the Sabres, I'd say the Shanahan (and Dubas; remains to be seen what Treliving does) era is probably the biggest failure in franchise history in that the team has never had a better collection of talent, yet all it has to its name is two Round 1 wins and four Round 2 games won. In the heart of the Matthews, Marner and Nylander prime years. That's downright pitiful.

Worth remember ahead of the Pelley presser later today - he parted ways last summer with Bill Manning, who oversaw both TFC and the Argos - which resulted in the GMs of those teams (Hernandez and Pinball, respectively) reporting directly to Pelley.

I would expect, at least in the interim, that this is going to be the setup with the Leafs, which he will confirm today.

The "new voice" ? Perhaps another outside perspective that they'll eventually bring in with time. Would be surprised if its anything imminent

What could he possibly say that will be of substance?
