Preamble
Philly and Calgary are middle-of-the-pack teams looking to join the ranks of the league's top contenders, while Arizona seems destined for a lengthy rebuild. So, the Flyers and Flames pluck what they need from the Coyotes in order to improve their win-now lineups, and Arizona get some valuable futures while they tank for Wright/Bedard this year and next

The Trade
Flyers out: Sanheim, JVR, Foerster, Tuomaala, York
Flyers in: Chychrun, Gaudreau

Flames out: Gaudreau, Lucic, Pitlick, Zadorov, 2022 1st
Flames in: Keller, Schmaltz, Sanheim

Coyotes out: Chychrun, Keller, Schmaltz
Coyotes in: Zadorov, JVR, Lucic, Pitlick, Foerster, Tuomaala, York, CGY's 2022 1st

Philly upgrade their lineup with a pair of all-star calibre players - one of which is a #1D signed to 4 more years on a very team-friendly contract. With Giroux's salary coming off the books next summer they'll have ample cap space to re-sign Gaudreau who grew up a Flyers fan. Next season: 1st line Gaudreau/Couturier/Konecny. 2nd line Lindblom/Hayes/Farabee. 3rd line Laughton/Frost/Atkinson

Calgary bring in a couple of forwards, albeit overpaid ones, who are in their prime and signed long term, while Sanheim gives them an upgrade on D. Their roster doesn't feature a lot of high-end talent, but it's a well-balanced lineup that could prove to be a tough out for any team in the West come playoff time

Arizona add another 2022 1st, plus 3 talented prospects to their rebuild - one of which is an offensive LD who could replace Chychrun as the team's PP catalyst. Zadorov's expiring contract could be moved at this year's deadline to a team in need of help on D. The salaries of JVR and Lucic help them reach the cap floor next season, and it's possible that with 50% retention JVR's expiring contract could return a decent asset or two at next year's trade deadline. Arizona can weaponize their cap space during their rebuild to bring in additional picks/prospects as they become a primary dumping ground for teams looking to move unwanted contracts. Given their salaries in relation to their production and cap hits, Keller and Schmaltz aren't players I view as foundational pieces worth holding onto through a rebuild

Possible Philly lineup:

Giroux - Couturier - Konecny
Gaudreau - Hayes - Farabee
Lindblom - Laughton - Atkinson

Provorov - Ellis
Chychrun - Risto
Yandle - Braun

Possible Calgary lineup:

Keller - Monahan - Tkachuk
Coleman - Backlund - Lindholm
Dube - Schmaltz - Mangiapane

Hanifin - Andersson
Sanheim - Tanev
Valimaki - Gudbranson

You have this odd fixation with 3 way trades. They all most never happen in real life (unless it’s someone taking on cap). There’s a good reason why

This is true, but also because the remaining Flyers prospects suck

The Flyers are set at center in their top 6 with Couturier and Hayes signed long term...

Ideally Frost would fill the 3C slot this season or next, but they've also got Laughton for that role if need be

So, the Flyers wouldn't have an immediate need for C prospects

I’m not sure anyone finds the thread titles entertaining. The proposal are garbage on top of it.
