Obviously not much hope for Kazakhstan here. Hoping for multiple goals for them, that would already qualify as success. Coach for some reason did not play their only WHL player against Sweden, it would not change much, but is somewhat stupid imo.

They beat us at U18 in April. So there is hope.

I'll take your word for it, but I think it is very unlikely. Top Czech kids are flirting with pro hockey while Kazakh kids are pretty much were they were a year or two ago, playing junior hockey.

Watch out Ottawa.. czechboy is going streaking! Also.. if I'm not posting after this. Czechcanadian has kidnapped me.

Czechs should win. 5-1 is my guess. Huge game tomorrow against Slovakia in the 'avoid north America' bowl.

I expect kavan to start and Hrabal to run the table after that. I'd prefer milota but I love all 3 goalies if I'm being honest.

Speaking for myself. They have sale with out worst D and a PK hard working forward. So hoping for some rejigging. Husinsky should be on bottom pair. Mastalarsky should be moved down lineup. Someone like jecho, kos, stancl or cihar should be moved to line 1.

I'd like port with galvas. Tell galvas to roam wild. Dvorak and jiricek as pair 1. Husinsky or koci with fibigr.

A win puts us into the quarters. Hoping for a tweaked lineup. Roll the lines. No injuries. Kazakhs beat us at the U18s in spring. Guys like fibigr and galvas were on that team I believe.

On paper it is a very comfortable win. Czech teams are an adventure though. Latvia beat us last year. Germany has beat us 3 in a row here. We are the kings of losing exactly this matchup.lol.
 
When I watched the video with Czech players (Hradec and Židlický) "answering" questions about Kazakhstan I was feeling a bit embarrassed. I understand the guys are young and don't remember the best era of Kazakhstan in hockey. But they should at least know the name of Nik Antropov as the legend of Kazakhstan's hockey, and possibly the legendary Koreshkov brothers too. Other answers were quite embarrassing too: "What do you know about Kazakhstan as a country?" - "I don't know (silly laughs) ... beautiful nature, perphaps? ... Fishing in the rivers? ... No, I don't know, really (silly laughs)." I understand they are teenagers and probably not exactly young intellectuals, but damn. Just hope they will at least go to the game with due respect to their opponent and won't end up like Canada yersterday.

Was hoping for some minor tweaks but no such luck. Coach is determined to show us husa and masta are the pride of Europe and better than all those good drafted players.lol.

Novotny as 13th forward is silly.
 
Glad it is kavan but I feel like anytime Augusta is given a choice between drafted player in North America and undrafted euro.. he's going the latter.lol
 
Horrow show. Nikitin swimming somewhere in the net on the first one and then lack of jump immediately after. Long evening ahead.
 
That's it. Please for love of God give a chance to a different goalie. Nikitin is just not it.
 
Goalie change and you can argue Nikitin should have been given the day off anyway after the first game.
 
Kazakh D have been an absolute nightmare.. The Czechs are good though.. right there for a medal.
