LOL. This shocks me, honestly. Let's hope for the best, though.
What’s with the slew of signings? Are these all in normal timing and I’m just not used to the Rangers having so many draft picks that need to be signed?
Were you not expecting him to get a contract?LOL. This shocks me, honestly. Let's hope for the best, though.

Idk who handles Swedish scouting, but outside of Lundkvist it feels like some sketchy picks. They love giants and guys who are slight.
Not this soon. He hasn't proven much yet, but certainly hasn't received the ice time with Frolunda. Missing this past WJC with covid was unfortunate as well. I think the Rangers are ready to get him over here to Hartford where they can control his development.
Shocked is an understatementLOL. This shocks me, honestly. Let's hope for the best, though.
I wasn't expecting him to get a contract now. The Rangers held his rights until June 1, 2023. I was expecting them to give him at least one more year in Sweden before making a decision. Were you not expecting him to get a contract?

The first half of the season he was a fixture on the top line for Frolunda with Lundqvist and Friberg and played 13-15 minutes per night or more. He wasn't getting prime PP time but he was getting very good minutes, especially considering he was 19. It wasn't until the second half of the season that his TOI started to dip as his production never materialized, and then towards the end he was getting scratched. But, the minutes absolutely were there for him, he just couldn't do anything with them.Kjellberg is an underrated pick out of Sweden. He plays in NA now, but was drafted out of Sweden
My view:
Why should his unlucky season matter more, than the performances that got him drafted?
Judging guys, before they complete their ELC is, IMHO, jumping to conclusions.
Like the posters, of other teams, evaluating Laf and Kakk, by the counting stats of their first 50 or 100 games.
NYR didnt draft them for what they'll do in years D+3
Karl will have a fair and full opportunity to establish his career.
Glad their takin' care of biz.
Paju and Nils too, soon.
Curious, outside of missing the WJC, what was unlucky about this season for Henriksson? I mean I'm fully on board with the "let's be patient" approach with him, but I'm not sure how the season was unlucky. My view:

IDK, other than COVID, none of that really strikes me as bad luck. He had many chances to solidify his spot in the lineup even before the COVID, but never did anything with it. Even when he'd get bounced and they'd put Nassen in his spot, he'd get his lineup spot back within a game or two. But again, he couldn't do anything with it.He suffered an injury early on, then battled COVID (leading to him missing the WJC). After that he wasn't really the same but that was also because the minutes weren't there anymore. Others stepped up in his absence, including Elmer Söderblom.
I spoke to Henriksson a few times this season and what I can say is that him signing now is more about the Rangers wanting to have him in the system. Hartford is purely a team for development purposes, where he can grow into his role, whereas with the Indians it was about winning, and near the end about avoiding not missing the play offs altogether. They had a very up-and-down season and Henriksson wasn't the answer to their problems. Fair enough, but from that POV I can understand the Rangers pulling the trigger now
