Say Taransenko is moved for a haul of futures. Obviously sounds crazy given the rivalry, but what if Saad calls up Kane and compels him to waive for a legit cup chance down here. A line of Kane-Thomas-Saad would be interesting. Apparently Kane & Toews were the reason Panarin was dealt for Saad, so they’re close. Am I nuts, or would a new regime in Chicago digging in for a lengthy rebuild ever deal with a rival?

Which question do you really want answered?

1. What if?
2. Are you nuts?
3. Would Chicago be willing to deal Kane to the Blues?

I wouldn't say its out of the realm of possibility. Chicago is intentionally tanking the next 5 years, so the traditional thought to trade outside your division does not hold. They'd want to see Kane multiple times a year as they want to lose. I have heard Chicago would be willing to retain max, so we can afford him. But at max retention he is going to cost a ton of assets. We don't really have many super attractive ones that fit with Chicago's 5 year timeline. I think there are other teams with a good chance to win that Kane would be interested who could outbid us.

I hope we don't go after him though. I do not like him or want him on my team. Its not because he was a blackhawk either. He seems like he is not a good person at all. I won't go into details as to why, as none of it is concrete facts. There are just enough stories as to his behavior to create enough smoke that I don't want him near any team I root for.

Wouldn’t be worth the price anyway. He’s played his best hockey already. I wouldn’t pay a premium for him now. Let someone else do it.
