Agreed. Also, whose quote is this?
He finds openings where he breaks in for a nasty shot. With more experience, he'll find even more of those opportunities. He's also getting better at pushing point shots through.
The numbers depend on Power Play usage. Still, I can imagine a stretch of years where he scores around 12-15+ regular season goals despite limited PP time. 20+ is reachable.
Many big moment goals and shutdown defense.
If he starts to display more playmaking ability, watch out.
I think he has a moderate offensive future. If he can get up to 35-40 points a season or so, without PP, that'l be fine. Don't see him ever getting much PP time unless it's as a 2nd Dman, which I also expect Schneider could be. Would be odd to see two PP's, each with 2 Dmen, but I guess not impossible. His 200ft game and especially his defense though is what has him looking like he's coming into his own. I have a pretty good feeling that he will eventually take over as Fox's partner at some point soon.
And assuming Jones gets the 3rd pair LD spot next season, which I think is a good bet, Jones will probably also get good opportunity to QB the PP2. Schneider might get an opportunity with that also. But long term I think the top 4 will be Miller - Fox, Jones - Schneider. Once Trouba is gone at least. Meaning Lindgren either moves to another team or ends up the long term 3rd pair LD, which I can't see. And I think Schneider just has a more advanced offensive game than Miller. Which I think ultimately means Schneider ends up as the 2nd defender on either the PP1 or PP2. But it's possible they both could.
I just don't think he has the total high offensive game that you would want on a PP even though his shot is good. Or at least not the kind of level that would force a team to make room for him in their PP. If it came down to Schneider or Miller as a 2nd D for either PP, i think Schneider wins out. And Jones just seems an ideal PP2 QB and probably their highest capable offensive LD.
Miller will still be one of our most important players and I assume a PKer for the long haul. I don't know if Nurse is a great comparison, but I think they have some similarities. Hopefully the more positive elements. I was really worried coming off last season, heading into this one, that Miller just wasn't going to cut it. And especially the second half of this season, he's definitely taken huge strides. To the point where I do think he's going to move past Lindgren, possibly even as soon as next season and be locked onto Fox and the PK for his career. If he does add some offense along the way, that will be great.
