What exactly did people expect in a return. Kakko is in his 6th season and has 4 goals, 14 points in 30 games in his 6th season with a career high of 40 points and 2nd best season of 23 points. He's Jesse Puljujarvi essentially.
DAMNIT. We could have gotten a 3rd pair D++ for Jesse!?

In all seriousness though, Jesse's hips were broken. The only issue with Kakko is that he plays with a mini-stick.

Somehow the Rangers have become the biggest tire fire in a league that includes the Buffalo Sabres.
They will never be that big of a tire fire, because it's New York City. Management understands this, they will always be a destination, no matter how ruthless they treat their players.

Call this season a write off, ship out the guys who no longer want to be there, and go into the offseason with capspace to bring in top players that will jump to play at MSG 41 games of the year.

Broberg, Harley are turning into something special.

They are both good. Have a way to go before I'd call them standouts. At one point it seemed like guys like Seider, Knight, Zegras, etc.. were all going to be stars and potential franchise level players.

I'd say McMichael looks like the next potential standout from 2019 though. Hopefully he keeps it up.

I think they’re going to have to offer every significant UFA a full NMC moving forward as long as this regime is in charge.

Borgen has rebound potential. Value sounds about right for a 2nd Overall bust that will be overpaid by an arbitrator.
I think Kakko is actually a pretty solid player. And Drury has been playing his hand face-up since the beginning of the season...

BUT! This deal is pretty decent for both sides. Kakko wanted out. Drury got back a couple of picks and a guy who credibly played top-four minutes the last two seasons (he's struggled this year) for a project player.

It's a decent gamble for Seattle on a player with some previous promise. They were letting Borgen walk regardless at the end of the season.

This is true. They will always have a huge advantage over their competition with their unfettered access to talent. Makes it all the more hilarious what a tire fire that organization has always been despite the huge advantage.
