I kind of like this observation. Maybe event try Krav on the line with Panarin and Strome, let him play and learn from someone who speaks the same language.

Has Kappo gotten a shot with Zib and Buch? I know it’s his off wing but can’t recall.
I'd really like to see this because KZB has been hot garbage at even strength this year.

Buchnevich was tearing it up when Panarin was on LOA and he was with Strome. He's slowed down considerably since being put back with Zibanejad and Kreider. I know Zibanejad has scored recently but that line is outshot almost every night.

We keep going back to it because it worked three years ago but it's time for a breakup.

If Kakko is soft, then what does that say about the NHL?

He's wins just about every battle this year.

Is this guy the same guy that just calls every European soft? That guy is the epitome of white trash. Unfortunately, people that think like him probably make up like 20% of the Rangers fan population. Just the other day some idiot was lamenting us trading Lemieux to replace him with a "soft Russian".

With respect to the shootout, that is something that they do in practice. If Kakko was sent out there, I'm sure he's showing something in practice to make the coaches believe he's worth sending out in a game. I know we don't like Quinn but he's not pulling names out of a hat.

I don't mind him not playing the OT, so much of that arrangement is based on skating, which still isn't his strength. I don't necessarily agree with Colin Blackwell (who I do like) getting time out there, but there are several wingers I'd rather see out there than Kakko at this point.

20% is being nice.

HF is a hockey utopia compared to social media and MSG.

Ed Jovanovski was on Spittin’ Chicklets when the topic turned to the Sedin brothers. During their first few seasons, the fans had turned on Brian Burke because he went all in to draft these oddball twins yet they were toiling at like 30 points per season. Jovo talked about how no one in the organization was concerned because you could just see their potential in practice and they knew it would only be a matter of time before the skill would translate in NHL games. You kind of hope that is what the Rangers are seeing with Kakko and Laf.

LOL me too, this place is poison.

To add another car on the Kakko train, the dude has that weird Jagr-esque look to him when he has the puck. Like, one day he is just going to dominate everyone and make it all look effortless. He needs to just do 1000 squats a day and we will be good. Grow dat ass Kaapo, LFG.

That's actually a great example of guys who took a long time to come around.

And Laf and Kakko hit the ice younger than they did.

With the talent we have -relatively a lot for a team picking that high- we're not in a position to feed them minutes just to inflate totals, and that's never been our style anyway.

That Kakko went from a historically bad analytics player to an analytics darling in one season shows a great deal of improvement.

It’s pretty simple: report the trolls, let the mods deal with them. Stooping down to the bullshit is just a waste of your time and bandwidth on this site. When he inevitably makes another account, report that too.

Regarding Kakko, the kid has been flashing those ridiculous puck possession skills more and more where he takes a stroll through the offensive zone without being knocked off the puck. He needs to work on shooting a bit more, but he’s been worlds better at using his size and skill to get to the high danger areas of the ice. He’s been doing it away from the puck too.

That seems like an interesting and encouraging comparison.

The bad part is that they didn’t truly break out till like 25.

ROR is the best comparison with Kakko imo. He made the NHL straight after the draft, but it was only his 3rd NHL season when had his break out year offensively despite being a strong NHL player, especially defensively, a year prior. Birthdays under a week apart as well!

Wouldn't be shocked if the two had similar careers going forward as well, although Kakko probably wont win any Selkes as a winger

LOL that is some wishful thinking. Pavel Zacha is a much better comparison.

And why is that exactly? Not very convincing argument to just say "LOL"

Zacha didnt make the nhl at 18yo and wasnt a strong possession and defensive player at 19yo like Kakko is and ROR was. Seemingly the only thing comparable is offensive production which is only a small part of the picture

He isn't a big hitter, that doesn't mean he is soft. He is a really strong player and his puck possession is really good through contact.

Soft isn't the word, not a guy who throws hits then yes.

whatever. he is closer to Nolan Patrick and Zacha than he is to ROR. ROR wasn't even a 1st round pick. If he was a top 10 pick he would have received more icetime in his first 2 seasons.

Since when are teams playing 3rd and 4th lines against Panarin?

I'll wait for you to reply with a quip about Kaako playing against team's 3rd D pairs.
