How is this relevant? How is a completely unknown kid making huge leaps in development overseas anything like a consensus top pick struggling to score points for two years after having success against men before being drafted?Panarin entered the league at age 24 man. Panarin at age 18/19 was not close to the player he is today. He even spent time in juniors in his D+1 season. He went undrafted 3(!) times.

Sorry. Missed that.
Sorry. Missed that.
What an outdated reference. Just use Archie Miller.Wow, people in thread posting how you can't win with youngsters. Agreed, trade draft picks for older players. ..reasons like this tell me the avg fan is as intelligent as Archie bunker.
AgreedLate bloomer or not, at this point Kakko is a candidate for a cheap second contract.
Exactly........I like the kid but he is on pace for less than 8 goals and 16 points in a full season.
Something needs to click for him.
I'd rather have Kakko with Panarin than Blackwell. Blackwell is quicker and might be more aggressive, but Kakko is our future. They simply swap spots, 2 vets get a kid, and 2 kids get a vet wandering pitbull.
KZB
Panarin Strome Kakko
Laffy Chytil Blackwell
The visible frustration from KK almost every shift now just proves the lack of leadership from this team. He needs some encouragement but also tough love, and I don't think he's getting it from anyone.
Then he is not playing to a number 1 overall....and bc zibinjad progressed doesn't mean he will. He does look good in def zone...like jan Erixson did. Jan was 2nd round pick. Whoever released that dumb video of the ot goal vs wild rookies last year should be classified as idiotic.....built this kid up to be an immediate impact player.I'm sure the other players and the coaching staff give him plenty of encouragement. There's only so much other people can do for him. He has been playing well defensively and he was very good last night. He made several defensive plays that led to offense. He stalled in the offensive zone, but that will come.
Some of you guys stress this stuff too much, I think. He's still a kid finding his way, but he is leaps and bounds better this year than he was last year. He will continue to improve. We just need to be patient.
Look at Zibanejad. Since he joined the rangers, he has done nothing but improve, and he was 23 when we traded for him. Kakko just turned 20.
Are you surprised? Look at who created the post. What’s up with the Kakko thread in the trade forum ? Dude is only 20 yo.
I honestly think they are trying to build trade capital in Blackwell until Kravtsov comes

looks great on the panarin strome line.
disagree. when he was on that line earlier in the season its clear he was in way over his head. he’s earned it now. he has an idea of what to do and is defensively responsible.Should have never left.
