Not a great game, not a bad game, goal and a few chances...hopefully builds on that, want to see Quinn get him some more icetime as well

alright what is here a goin on!?!? kakko playing 9 minute games and falling from 2nd line after team collapse yeasterdays. what is this for treatening a like numero uno drafty. they dont want him here? you never grow confidence at this behaviours by team coach and headquarters. you must play him big minutes by now and let him grow to MONSTERMODE. having him for whole season at least at 2nd line and playing big time minuting at PP also. there is space for him here. he is like numero uno at draft no secret here. you guys here have a superman for team and must be with him. wait. he not american/canadian. maybe this also much for treatment from coach/headquarters. at some other camp jellyboykid of hughesclan surfing bigtime minutes and not putting anything to scorebaords jumbotrone. they like force him with as much icetime he by anything can have like lowest but forwarding speed at ice ..to play him. same force goin on here. new kid of Lackgresque,,,..sorry i always not remember his name...you know him........so ...now they have an american/canadian new kid here to force with 20 min gaming and of course there must come some points at end...and then have like proof he ready...... but kakko he like not needed here. doghouse for him. this is very strange behaviours. he should be treated like KING HERE! they soft his ass here all time ...must feeling very low and hanging being here at this organisation.......like having cold hardened dickey in already softend ass all days long and not being able to do anything. ....i dont know what happen for him here but this not looking promising for future. impossibles to put up his better points to scoreboards jumbotrone at this condition and place. hope he not end up at backstreets. what catastrophy goin on. ...n y rangers. i remember this ! my word

Very good game by him, especially considering he only played a whole 11 minutes, 3rd least among forwards. He was very noticeable those 11 minutes. Likely not by Quinn though. All Quinn will remember the weak ass penalty they called on him.

Kind of reminds me of Buchnevich when he came to the nhl and struggled away from the puck. Except Buch was older with a few years of KHL under his belt. The offensive instincts are there, he just needs time to round out the rest of his game.

You could tell how much that goal meant to Kakko, which kinda is the problem in itself.

Huge for his confidence as the next few shifts he was really wanting the puck and on the play.

We cannot forget how young of a player he is. After dominating in Finland and on the world stage a kid gets accustomed to the expectation to dominate. There is a long acclimation period for players who expect to be successful offensively but have trouble putting up points. You see his elation and relief when he scores and you can tell how much that is driving his self reward.

When he reaches a point when he understands that its ok not to put anything on the scoresheet but still provide a great value to the team, thats when he will take off imo. His play needs to become more instinctual and I think his skating and positioning will improve because of it. He can then rely on his skillset to naturally take over, because his game still seems "forced".

It will be fun to watch him grow. I have a lot faith in him and I think he will get there but it may take a longer time than a lot of fans expect.

However, it was nice to see him bounce back and have a good game with a big goal in Game 2 to get his confidence going. Hopefully he can use it a spring board and it will continue. I said it the other day - I think he needs a goal scoring stretch of 2-4 games to finally settle down and understand that not only does he belong in the NHL, but he can make and impact and be a leader on this team as well.

What was that middle word?

Lafreniere played 16:31 last night but everyone is too entrenched into Quinn narratives to mention it.

Kakko can have more ice-time when he shows that he’s an NHL player. For whatever reason, he only looks halfway-decent with Di Giuseppe-Chytil.

Did you all see what Lafreniere was doing last night? It’s night and day from Kakko.

Well, Lafrenière is the best prospect to come out of the draft since Matthews. Maybe even since McDavid. Comparing Kakko (or even Hughes, Svechnikov, Patrick or Hischier) to him isn't really fair.

Kakko was never supposed to be as good as Lafrenière. I just want him to be on par with Jack Hughes. 3rd line minutes at even strength are fine, but why was Lemieux on the PP over Kakko? That decision makes no sense to me.

Just for clarification, hughes was a better prospect and had a higher ceiling than kakko, even disregarding positions.

I think they're still trying to make Lemieux the net front guy on PP2 and I don't really think that's going to be Kakko's thing going forward

The team is too deep at wing for him to get a lot of minutes. He’s not going to play above Panarin, Kreider, Buch or Laf (right now). Just wish he could get some PP time he’s such a better option than some of the guys Quinn is throwing out there

most other teams who get 1 and 2 OA spots are so devoid of talent, that those rookies walk right onto L1 and PP1 from out of camp and get 20mins a night. NYR is not one of those teams. This isn't the oilers or the devils. Kakko, and Laf, will not be getting those minutes. They will have to displace others to get them, and it will take time.

Even so, he should be getting PP time in place of him and Howden.

It's the one place where he was reasonably productive last year, I don't see how taking him off the unit helps him or the team at all.

And again as much as we like buch burying kakko and paying buchy isn’t the best move going forward.

not to mention burying Kravtsov even further down

5v5 its fine.

Not putting him on the PP otoh solves nothing. I don't think Quinn is going to keep him off of it for long

Kakko can’t be playing what 12 mins with the pp2 mins if he actually got them? He’s only getting 10 now. That’s not going to work. He’s not going to develop into the player he should that way. And again even further down forget kravtsov getting any actual mins

Quinn is managing minutes to get results from certain guys. Kakko likely isn't doing something particularly well for him so his minutes suffer until he does. For me i find Kakko actually a little slow to move, like he hesitates and then gets caught. He hasnt been bad but imo the coach is trying to get more from him, but thats just my opinion. For me, i actually feel he plays better on the 3rd line though id love to see him on pp2 as well, or even 1.

14-16 minutes a game including the PP time would be fine.

ok sure but reality is he’s not getting anywhere near that and won’t with PP2 time either. PP2 gets next to nothing on this team and certainly Not with the guys ahead of him and Quinn’s desire to ride his top two lines.
