It might be a little unfair to call him invisible, but this feels like the lowest of low-event players. He's rocking 0 points, 2 PIM, 10 shots, and a -3. He makes me wish for whatever's left of Sutter to be ready to play again.

Am I wrong or just expecting too much of a player we traded for?

Yeah he’s a nothing player. At least he’s cheap and we didn’t give up an actual asset for him.

I barely notice him or Dickinson, I’m sure their positionally sound players but far from “energy guys”

Some Panthers fans said he played with an edge and took dumb penalties, he seems really tame to me. Might just be a team culture thing, Panthers are a lot more feisty as a group.

I really have no issue with Lammikko. Hes been fine and has been snakebitten on a couple close chances. If Juulsen can get healthy then its an overwhelming win of a trade. It was dumb as shit drafting OJ in the first place and holding onto him for so long. The players we got back for him are better than he will ever be

I dont think he really costs us anything on the ice with his play where as Ollie Juolevi did. So its a bit of a win....a very very slight trivial win.

Typical Benning "hockey trade" special , refuses to get picks back ...prefers his plugs.

I do notice his name when the commentators mention it and think "this is the return for a #5OA pick"!

Not wanting to put a less than charitable spin on the Lammikko acquisition from Florida, but both this guy and Juulsen were two contracts the Panthers were anxious to rid themselves of. And for them, getting a former fifth overall draft pick in Juolevi on only a one-year deal, was a fair price.

You can argue that the Canucks sold low on Juolevi, but at this point that's all he really is--a replacement level d-man. And Lammikko is a big body, who skates well and isn't bad on the dot. But as for points, forget about it.....four goals in 44 games for the Panthers and six goals in 22 games in the KHL last season.

Lammikko doesn't bring anything of substance to the team...he's not terrible, but he's not a guy who is a "dynamic" 4th liner...he's not a great faceoff guy, he's not a great penalty killer, he's not tough or really even that physical, he's never a real threat in the offensive zone...ever. The only real positive thing you can say about him is that he's not terrible.

I think Lamminko does play with an edge in that he plays hard and does throw hits (nothing earth shattering). The 4th line he anchors just isn’t good enough for anything to be sustained offensively so we only see him chasing the puck. I think he needs to play with wingers who can carry the puck and attempt to make some plays but Green might not like that.

He has 18 PIM in 97 career NHL games. Last year he had 10 PIM in 44 games. Think it’s pretty save to save that any dumb penalties he takes is few and far between.

Yeah, maybe playing with Motte will help him. I would just like a 4th line who can cause havoc on the forecheck

Seems like one of those players that works his ass off , but you could saw the blade off of his stick..and it wouldnt make the slightest bit of difference..

We've had several players like these through the years..

Definition of a water treader.

Nothing we've seen so far suggests he would be a regular on a good team.

With the injuries to Sutter and Motte and Dickinson being mostly useless thus far, our bottom-6 in general is quite impotent.

The 4th line so far isn't getting caved in every time they step on the ice. Got to see that as a positive development. Not the development you need to see in a contender, but we're clearly nowhere in that conversation.

Neither player is ever gonna hold any value so it’s nothing for nothing. Would have been nicer to get a pick for OJ as former high selections typically can return something of value.

I mean if his role is primarily 4th line and PK, being a low event player should be considered a good thing.

Just speaks volumes though that Green was more willing to play this guy who is a total stranger to this team than MacEwen or Gadjovich despite having the opportunity to showcase/evaluate them in the pre-season. I don't agree with that, but Green is willing to take an established 4th liner from another team over giving people in our farm system an opportunity to prove themselves because he feels more secure than trusting those minutes to rookies that may need time to improve.

Lammikko is who he is, a 13th or 14th forward on most teams. He turns 26 in January and has 11 points in 97 career games. When Motte and Sutter (if) return, it will be interesting to see who gets displaced. I actually expected it to be Lammikko and Chaisson/Bailey. Dowling is probably the better option of 4th line group.
It will probably be:
Miller-EP-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-Hoglander
Garland-Dickinson-Podkolzin
Motte-Sutter-Dowling

though I think the following is a better option:

Garland-EP-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-Hoglander
Motte-Miller-Podkolzin
Dowling-Dickinson-Sutter

I agree with other posters....it's really too bad they lost both MacEwan and Gadjovich on waivers. At their worst, these guys are still prototypical fourth liners. They may not score much, but they're going to dish out punishment on the forecheck and at least keep the puck in the offensive zone on occasion.

I see from watching the Leafs-Flyers game last night that MacEwan is still getting quality minutes in Philly....so obviously Vigneault likes something about his game.

Losing those two guys at the expense of guys like Chiasson, Highmore, Lammikko, Dowling, etc. etc....was just dumb asset management.

I just wish they had just kept Tyler Graovac instead.

I was just about to say the same thing. Apparently 3 goals in 14 games as a 4th liner for Graovac last year wasnt good enough for the canucks. Doesnt help that Graovac is also playing pretty well in the K.

I cant believe im saying this but, We need Sutter back..... thats how bad its become.

Serviceable and he won't lose us games but he doesn't provide anything else honestly.

He's not too far off from Dickinson's contributions so far but this more of a knock on Dick
