Please think of this logically.
Why would it be the Rangers that turned down the deal when it was them who scratched their AHL prospects. So clearly it was them that thought the deal was close.
Like dont you think conditions of the 1st round pick and Canucks adding a sweetener would have been discussed before pulling your guys out of an AHL game.
Miller has yet to be even asked to waive his NTC.
Clearly its the Canucks that have turned down any offer that has been presented to them, which is why they havent even asked Miller to waive nor have they pulled him from any game.
The offers are not good enough right now. 1st Chytil Skykora is best guess.
Carolina has $22.58M in expiring UFAs this off-season. If this off-season doesn't go well, they will have plenty of cap space to make moves without having to give up core pieces.
And if they decide to move Necas after July 1, a team can negotiate with him and sign him to a deal, which would make him worth much more as a 26 year old wing you can sign long-term.
Most of the allure of Miller for Carolina would be as a mid-season pickup. Wait until the off-season, and there are many other options Carolina can consider.

Miller for Chytyl, Lindgren and Sykora. No 1st, no retention. Vancouver flips Lindgren for whatever they can get at the deadline. That’s probably what they’re looking at right now.
I wish Alvin would come out and say what is going on. Rutherford said in December that they
were not trading Miller. This media circus doesn't help anything.
So the Canucks miss out on kotkaniemi? Not much of a risk in waiting for Vancouver.
Maybe not a cancer but there's obviously something up with him.
He wasn't traded the last time he was avaliable and offers are still shit now despite his on ice track record.

This looks reasonable to me. I think the Rangers giving up their 1st right now is a difficult ask with how their season is going.
Honestly I think they could likely pull off another prospect there in addition to Sykora if they're taking Lindgren back. I think Lindgren probably only brings back like a 2nd at the deadline, while I think Chytil, Sykora and a late 1st for Miller is reasonable.
I think the cancer angle is way overblown. He’s an intense and demanding personality though, so it’s more about knowing whether your locker room will embrace that competitiveness or there are guys who can’t handle that.
It’s the cap hit and term for a guy at that age that really limit what teams will offer.
What’s also become an afterthought is the ntc he has. For all i know, that’s not a factor at this point from his perspective and he just wants out. It’s also possible that he’ll only waive for a couple teams or less. I don’t see it mentioned in media rumors and there’s been a handful of teams mentioned with interest, which makes me curious given the canucks obvious interest in resolving this as quickly as possible. the situation dragging out despite him attracting what appears to be a pretty competitive market just doesn’t add up for me.

You conveniently leave out that Miller was told that he was not going to play as well.
The only reason two of the three Hartford prospects didn't play is because timezones are a thing. (One of the prospects didn't play for an unrelated reason).
Both teams thought it was close, and the Rangers pulled out. Again... this has been widely reported.
Why? Allen is fine in the interim and if anything Marky going on IR helps with the cap gymnastics needed to fit Miller.

Obviously at first glance Chytil, a 1st, and a prospect is a terrible return for someone who scored over 103 points last year. It's going to be a painful trade, but it looks like it is necessary. The team can't perform while it's stuck in limbo.
Still, Vancouver fans will love Chytil if he can stay healthy. That's a big if unfortunately. He has great speed, good hands, and the ability to carry the puck through the neutral zone and enter the offensive zone with possession. The latter being something Vancouver has really struggled to do this season.

Dylan Garand is someone Vancouver should be interested in as well.
What is Chytl’s biggest injury risk(concussions?) or is he just one of those guys that’s made of glass?

I wouldn't be buying at all, right now depending on how long markstrom is out.
But it doesn't look like the devils have much interest anyway, so nothing that likely needs to be worried about
Can't be too overblown if Vancouver is trying to trade him so much that they are willing to listen to the offers being suggested.

The Flyers would not move Bonk in this deal. I had suggested a deal around Couts as well and I think it’s fair value with the acknowledgment that Millers value would be higher. Couts is more an injury risk vs Millers attitude, but Flyers room is tight so can maybe absorb Miller’s personality as he seems to be a dude that pushes hard; maybe it will blend with Torts.
I don’t the think Flyers move Bonk as they expect him to transition as the RD of future.
Zemula they may be open to; or if it has to be a RD I would include Grans who’s doing well, and a RW prospect as well - maybe a Brink type if Van needs to help offset some offensive loss. Zemula emerging as a too 4 D. My thought was Couts and Risto for Miller plus some salary coming back; but it seems perhaps Risto has played himself into somebody who can garner some good assets on his own - so not sure where ends up.
But I agree there’s a base there; Couts offense has dried up a bit (still on a 40-50 point pace) but his D is still excellent. With the emergence of Cates, his role is now redundant as the 50 point defensively plus center.
Would be tough logistically though with both NMCs.
