Rumor: JTM Trade Thread: Why did JT Miller bring a suitcase to practice?

Philly gets an offensive boost with a more recent high offensive output track record in Miller. Philly's leadership starts to transition to a younger guard with the likes of Konecny/Laughton/Sanhiem/Tippett. Miller at 1C with high offensive production can put less stress on Frost to produce offensively.

Vancouver gets a defensively responsible C who's had injuries derail production in recent years with a similar contract and age. Couturier can play 2C behind a more offensive 1C compared to playing 2C behind Frost who's offensive production hasn't been and proven to be a true 1C yet.

I think Vancouver takes slightly more risk with Courtier's recent injury history vs. Miller's drama. This risk is offset in a defensive prospect in Bonk. Philly's also decent defensive prospect depth with Andrae, McDonald, Gill, Grans. Some of which have had some looks at the NHL level already. I don't see Philly parting ways with a York or Drysdale to facilitate this type of move. Maybe Zamula?

Not touching on value. I just don’t see a way Philly trades Bonk until they see what they have with him.

Who would have guessed a guy having a down year and has been making locker room issues wouldn't have great value?

That's why I always laugh when I see Canucks fans trying to parade Miller around as a 100 point center that they'd get 100 point center returns for. If he was that, Vancouver wouldn't be wanting to move him. They're looking to move him because he's once again causing locker room issues, just like he did 2 years ago.

Personally he seems like too much of a headache to pay a big price for.

The only really confirmed offer we've heard about is :

1st, Chytil , Sykora.

IF thats the case, Miller isnt going to be traded until the summer.

No way the Canucks are moving him for that price. He would have been traded by now if thats all it takes.

There's literally no reason for the Canucks to come down on their price especially when they will have more suitors in the summer.

So either these teams meet their price now, or lets not trade him till summer.

Teams aren’t clamoring to acquire a malcontent with 5more years on his contract at $8M…the horror.

Sure, he’s a great player, but has baggage. Any team interested in acquiring him isn’t going to pony up premium assets, anyone with sense already knew that

please show me someone that wants a 100 point centre return for him?

100 point centres would probably get - 2x 1st round picks, top prospect, 2nd round pick..

I dont think ive seen any proposal like that.

Most Canuck fans would happily trade Miller for : Young Roster player , 1st round pick, B level prospect. Hardly the demand you claim people want for Miller.

On Tuesday you suggested Miller to Carolina for Necas (who's on pace for 92 points this year) and Morrow.

Have a hard time picturing Rutherford and Allvin entertaining Drury’s proposals that look more meager with each call. He would be blocked pretty quick for being a dickhead.

If he is the only one calling you pivot to a different player needing to go or you sit on your hands.

We are at a point where the team isn't going to make a deep run if it makes the playoffs or not. Really only issue right now is Boeser and the rest will be dealt with in the off season.

One interesting aspect I find with reports of names getting brought up and immediately the gears get moving to drive down value.
Especially if its East Coast based media.

Another aspect about Millers value from Vancouver media is it is coming from agents perspective. So not everything is concrete.

I'm going on record saying that if the Canucks trade JT Miller during the season it will be looked back on as a terrible trade for them and everyone will call their management impatient and shortsighted.

The time to trade Miller is in the offseason when more teams can make cap space for him and the Canucks can weigh their options.
I don't think Miller fetches one iota more in the offseason. This bed is made, so to speak.

*He has an NMC and can fully dictate where he goes. (As a Canes fan, I'm already wary that we're being "Greered" again, like we were on Timo Meier...that he's only willing to go to NY/NJ and we're being strung along to get the best price from the only "true bidder.")

*The situation is known and acknowledged by the Vancouver FO and coach...so everyone knows they have you over the barrel and you have to resolve the conflict before it grows. Offers made reflect that and likely continue to reflect that.

*Any advantage gained by the Canucks in the offseason (more teams (which may not be true because of the NMC), more cap space) gets more than offset by those gained by competitors. (More options on the market, some without the same age, contract, attitude questions.)

So...I think this is the best market remaining. If they could have kept the lid on the situation, Miller could have moved weeks ago for more. Now...it's as good as its going to get.

Necas + Morrow does not get you a 100 point Centre.

Nobody is trying to sell Miller as if hes a 100 point player. It would take waaay more than Necas + Morrow if that was the assessment of JT Miller which it is not.

I think Necas + Morrow is right around the value of Miller..

Like i said, 1st, young player, B+ Prospect

Necas has had a great 48 games, but i dont think that has changed Carolina or Necas's mind. Both of which wanted to part ways with eachother last year.

Canucks would 100% get more value for Miller in the off-season.

For the Canes, specifically, another playoff disaster this spring and that pressure of changing the core can hike up the interest on Miller.

Same can be said for NJ and NYR.

Then the cap goes up and you have contending teams that might be desperate for a 1A 1B centre...

Colorado,, Boston,Dallas

Then there's teams that might be done with their rebuild/retool and need a premier Centre like Miller:

Detroit
Columbus
Bufallo
NYI - wildcard, never know what theyre doing.

Right now, its probably a 2-3 team list for Miller....at Summer , that goes up to around 10+ teams that would be interested.

I dont know what that means for how much more assets in a trade it adds...all we can guess is that it will be better than the offer that fell through right now:

1st, Chytil, Sykora

Hahaha

The Canes offer for Pettersson last year was something like

1st, Necas ++

it did not get Pettersson.

How much less value do you figure Miller has than Pettersson?

Necas + Morrow to me is Miller value.
