Trades and free agent signings are pretty different though. Complex trades like this can sometimes take awhile to come together.

There has been so much written about the situation, the GM, coach and captain have admitted the stories are true and have issues with him. What team is going him in? Especially for any appreciable price? Vancouver won’t get close to fair value, that’s probably what’s holding everything up.

You serious???

Most teams operate near the cap during the season. July 1st is when all the expiring contracts are off the books.

This is why in-season trades are difficult till the trade deadline. Equal amounts of cap space need to exchange for it to work out for in-season trades to happen.
