Both have played close to the same amount of games while they were both Canucks, so who was the better player from 2019-2025? This will omit Petterson's rookie season. Consider everything from peak play, to consistency, etc.

Miller and it's not really that close. Pettersson very talented but isn't made of the right stuff to be the go to guy. Much like Naslund and the Sedins before him these are players that like to win more than they hate to lose.

Pettersson easily has the higher peak. His offense has had the lowest valleys though. Petey has had extended periods of consistently bad offensive production while Miller is way more reliable scoring wise, but is wildly inconsistent defensively. He will go all out one shift and then just stand around and give up on a play the next. Unironically Miller has won the Canucks more games while a Canuck but also lost us way more games than Petey has since Petey, at his worst, is a great defensive player and possession guy.

So on the ice its pretty clearly Miller. If we include off the ice... while people have been quoted as saying Miller was really important (in the positive sense) in the locker room, this is his third straight team with a bad exit and while the Canadian media is real unfair about propagating rumours, Miller clearly caused a ton of problems with others over the years. All of them cant be false given his track record and history. Hes the common denominator in all the locker room issues that have existed.

Overall I'd say its a wash, Miller being a bigger negative off the ice and a bigger positive on the ice, but people shouldnt forget that Petey's peak is a level Miller just doesnt have and it includes consistent 200 ft defensive play that you cant rely on Miller for. No idea how the Nucks will replace Miller's clutch offense and the good parts of his leadership though. Going to be a mess.

Miller has been the better player but he was the right player to move, I dunno how the offer they got was the best because I swear they had 5-6 teams interested, however I still think they made the right move to keep Pettersson over Miller but wew that return.

Over their shared tenure? Miller by a mile.

Higher peak, higher floor, more consistent. This was always JT and Hughes core.

EP never separated himself from the pack.
