Proposal: Josi for Bouchard and Savoie...

Both teams say no. As great as Josi is, he's aging and is a LHD. Part of Edmonton's lethal powerplay is the threat of a deadly one-timer from a RHS Dman. Josi is obviously too important on the ice and off for the Preds to entertain this, especially when retained. While great pieces, Bouchard and Savoie don't really help the Preds if they lose Josi.

The retention makes it a no-go for Nashville especially with Bouchard's extension looming after this year.

Also dont think Edmonton does it. Even though Josi could probably just play offhand with Ekholm like he does in Nashville with Skjei/McDonagh (last season). It also makes Edmonton older by quite a bit while costing them a good trade asset.

No chance from the Preds. Even once you get past the Legendary aspect, his statue already commissioned for out front of Bridgestone, his unlikeliness to waive his NMC... even in fantasy-land, there is no way the Preds would trade him for Bouchard and his forthcoming crazy contract. Let alone with ANY retention involved whatsoever. Total non-starter.

Could make sense for both teams but I think Oilers would need to add picks/prospects, and Preds need to be set on rebuild. Unfortunately, Preds signed some big contracts so they might not want to throw in the towel just yet.

Preds went all in during UFA so besides the unlikeliness. A Josi at 6 million is much more than what is suggest.

Gotta pay #1 D men #1 money. I know the Oilers up v the cap but asking teams to trade a d man who's underpaid and then retain is going to cost an arm and leg.

Although fwiw, Josi has played RD for several stretches the last couple of seasons. For him, it doesn't really matter since he's a Rover by nature anyway. Not that he's available or that Edmonton could acquire him. But he does play RD frequently.

Preds would say no. I don't think any team would retain for 3 years. I might be wrong but I sure wouldn't

Josi is unbelievable but all these trade proposals that include Bouch are a dead end. We need to add to our right side. Right handed Ek to join Bouch on the Right side. My current pick is Provorov as a nice fit.
Provorov is a left shot offense first D, seems like an odd choice for them. Not many UFA RD this summer

Josie leaving Nashville seems like a thing that might happen in his final year if he wants to chase a cup and Nashville still isn't in the picture but until then don't see it

Provorov plays both sides. The issue there, is that Columbus is still hanging in the playoff race. They aren't going to dump Provorov while the playoffs are still possible. They could still extend him too.

Edmonton can't make the money work on this trade. I can't see Nashville wanting to move Josi yet either. Trotz doesn't make sense to me though, so who really knows, ha ha.

I doubt this deal would ever happen, but, would you, would the Oil, would the Preds...

Josi (34% retained - making him a 6 million dollar player) Signed for 3 more seasons after this one.

No knock on Josi, but the Oilers need more RHD not less, and are already one of the oldest if not THE oldest team in the NHL.

Have to say no dice from an Oilers perspective.

Josi on the open market would land a ton, though.

Love Josi, always have.

That said, most of his value is in the years he's already played. He's 35 this summer and it's looking like time is starting to catch up to him. Part of the reason we need to keep Bouchard is that he's very good and only 25, so he should remain very good for quite some time. Locking in to a top four of the next three seasons with 35 year old Ekholm, 35 year old Josi, and 30 year old Nurse is a tough look - not to mention that Savoie is our only A level prospect.

Also, Bouchard has been lights out in the playoffs for us. I sincerely doubt we'd want to trade him for a guy 10 years older for a guy that hasn't been as good in the playoffs as Bouchard has.

I would pass. Politely, but firmly.

Ken Holland's boner could be seen from space if he was still GM, though.
