Weegar is probably my favorite player in the league not on the Sens, so I'd love it if they could get something done, and he were interested. The NTC could be an issue.

I am a big Chabot fan, so might be the wrong Sens fan to talk to, but he's played much better this year so far. Tough one. I think it makes sense on paper, but makes it less intriguing. Ideally, we'd be using Zub's spot for Weegar, not giving up Chabot.

It may not be the best match because Ottawa is thin on futures to offer and I'd think that's the Flames' priority, but Weegar feels like the perfect fit. Easy to say about such a good player though, lots of teams would be interested.

I assume the NTC to go back to his hometown wouldn't be an issue, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, it looks like the mechanics to make such a swap work would be too complex, and such a move for Ottawa might be more luxury than necessity. Hopefully you guys figure out how to sort out that roster and get it going.

True. My intent was trying to figure out how to share a portion of the risk so the acquiring team doesn't have all the risk. Valid points that the way to do it is very complex and likely would mean GM aren't too interested in figuring it out. That's fair.

I think Ottawa has the pieces that could interest Calgary in moving Weegar in a mutually beneficial trade, but this wouldn't be it for me.

I wonder if salary can be a huge portion of the exchanged value? I was thinking Chabot based on some of the of season comments about him. (I apologize if he's no longer in that overpaid realm). But if the point is moving Norris, $16 mil is probably a ridiculous amount of contract to move. Insane blockbuster if it happened.

But again, it's probably too complicated and thus unlikely, but I'd actually be somewhat curious what that might look like that both teams might potentially nod to.

FWIW, Huberdeau and Weegar make about the same as Norris and Chabot

Unless another team is desperate I don’t see how this helps Ottawa to trade him.

They won’t get a player of equal value back

I don't see why Ottawa agrees to Huberdeau and Weegar for Norris and Chabot.... I feel like that move messes up the positional balance of both teams. I assume Ottawa wants some type of C back for Norris?

Nashville is so desperate for a 2C, I think they have to consider taking on the risk of getting one, especially considering he would likely be cheap and they have the assets to acquire him.

He might be overpaid by 1-2m but they’ve gotta do something in Nashville. The tax situation and living in a much better city (sorry Ottawa) would probably be huge for Norris as well. I like his game and if he can stay healthy, he’d be a good fit there.

Considering the crime rate of your average American city, especially relative to Ottawa, much better is a bit of a stretch, but still, no need to apologize, it is what it is and Norris is American after all

You g rich athletes do t live in the bad parts though. Nashville is a really cool city and Ottawa is boring. Plus being American and playing in America couldn’t hurt.

Are you under the impression Ottawa has to trade Norris? Ottawa's problem is goals against so if Norris returned a top 4 D, solid defensively, then I could see them making that move. Otherwise, they have no reason to move him and he certainly wouldn't be cheap.

Meh city crime rate really should not come into it. These guys are living a county over in a place with an overall crime rate that is very low, with violent crimes happening at a rate of less than 1 per 100k.

I was just talking about the cities themselves, not the gated communities these silver spoon-fed children live in, lol

His overly inflated paychecks and imminent career ending shoulder injury are plenty reason enough for Ottawa to move him and yes, he would accordingly be relatively cheap
