Player Discussion Josh Anderson - The Rene Bourque Edition

Anderson is back to being a nonfactor.
I'm ready to trade him 50% retained. I don't like him taking up time from the young guys. Same with Pearson and Armia. Give the ice to Gigncac, RHP, Ylonen, Roy, Heineman while we wait for others (trades, future draft picks, Mesar?, etc...)

I hope people aren’t actually surprised by this.
He should be visible as far as getting some rushes to the net or being a physical presence. He's been invisible since Christmas break. Obviously linemates have been so-so but he has the tool kit to be a one man army.

Which is the exact issue that’s been following him his entire career. He has the profile of someone that should be far more impactful than he is.

He's got size and skating... That's it. Not enough to stay at NHL level, and especially at his price tag.

He's trying to be too fancy. He's not that guy. He should play like Gallagher and Holmstrom but he's trying to play like Rick Nash. He doesn't have this kind of skills. Slaf is already using his body better to create space and he's just 19.

At the very least try and play like Dustin Brown - hit everyone you can.

plays like a skill player while he should play like Ryan Reaves

Maybe a short term contract would motivate him and keep him on the eadge. He also plays like he’s afraid of getting hurt

This f***ing moron was on the ice when Harris got boarded and did nothing. What is the point of being 6’3 and heavy when you have zero interest in being physical? Just go away you fake tough guy.

I was told by one poster who defended him by bringing up the fact he had a fight this year.

Somehow one fight justifies keeping him

I have written off Anderson as another bloated contract for a player who isn't worth half what he is being paid.

I've defended him multiple times but at this point he is what he is. A strong skater with very low smarts, who's not even good defensively. If he could at least use his physical advantages where they matter (defense, board play, cycling), but he's pretty much a rush player who makes poor decisions.

Well, I called it initially when he signed that 7 yr deal. He's definately another René Bourque type player and the contract ain't aging well. This one is turning out to be another Drouin type situation.

He joins the long list of post BargainBin blunders which includes Gallagher, Dvorak, Price, Armia, Savard and I'm tempted to say Allen but Hugo extended the latter. Anyways, getting value for these guys is unrealistic, although Savard might be salvageable. HuGo has still lots of work to do. The only consolation is that none of these guys will be here in 3 years. Caufield and Suzuki better blossom or those contracts will still become a burden.

Hughes had chances to trade him for big return last two deadlines. He wouldn't. Enjoy!!
