Anderson waking up today realizing he has more power and ability..

5 goals 1 assist so far and those 5 goals were in 3 games. Still needs waaaaaay more consistency to justify his contract.

Nah, you are talking about things he needs to do to provide more value on his contract. $5.5M for a 27 year old big man that skates very well and chips in on offense here and there is solid. Prime years. Would be different if we were paying him for 31+ years only

Don't compare him to the Toffoli contract which was an anomaly. And NHL contracts are not solely based on points and goals. It's the bigger factor but not the sole factor.

The area I didn't like about Anderson is when he is not producing points, I wanna see him finish his checks and make sure Tampa knows he is on the ice each and every time. This makes some players make decisions they might not normally make. It's a factor

He has, but some more consistency is needed if we want to extend this series. If he can maintain this intensity for 3 more games…

I haven't really had a problem with his consistency. He has been hitting and skating and driving the net on a regular basis. I do hope he plays 3 more great games! He is the kind of player that could be a big difference maker if Tampa continues to wear down as the series goes along.

A line change seemed to help.

Like I have said many times in the past, I am less worried about the $$ and more about the length as I feel he has not done enough to deserve such a contract. Sort of like what Minnesota just did with Erickson EK and his 8 year deal.

Because Toffoli has been putrid lately. Anderson has been working hard and great to see him rewarded, he’s always had good chemistry doing the dirty work on Suzuki’s line. Wonderful effort on the overtime goal last night.

I'm a firm believer of depth and sum of all parts. We have seen this first hand with the Habs this year. I hate crowning selective players so I say keep our 4 line attack going for next year and years to come. Having guys like Matthews/Marner is awesome but those greedy bastards ruin your team salary cap.

When one struggles, others step up. Toffoli is due. So is Perry and Caufield. Petry as well.

7 years is from 27-33 right? I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's a fair contract to Anderson and the Habs. All he has to do is skate, hit, and chip in 20+ goals. Anything beyond that is gravy.

You worried he becomes complacent? I feel that our kids under him will provide enough energy for him to feed off of. Seen that first hand last night after the line change.

The guy has all of 6 pts in 21 games in playoffs playing on top lines

In case anyone didn't realize, thats not exactly awe-inspiring numbers

Also worried with his injury history and the way he plays. Hope he can stay healthy and miss as few games as possible.

Our only good offensive line is the Suzuki line. Let’s not pretend that Anderson is dogging it with the quality of the guys on Tampa’s top 6. He was playing for the entire playoffs with 2 30 point players in KK and Byron.

Hes always going to complement the line that he’s on, not drive it.

There's nothing he can do or not do, in 1 season, never mind 1 post season...to "justify" his contract.

Just be happy we've got a unique player who brings a dimension no other Hab player brings, whether he's scoring or not.

The money, as it usually does, works itself out in the wash...fans worry way too much about that.

Kind of in a way yes. The only area of Anderson's power game that needs work is his puck protection along the walls. Once it's in his feet, he struggles.
Yeah definitely not his forte, he struggles when his time/space gets limited or if he has to handle the puck in tight. He's often easily pushed off the puck when he's trying to cycle.

But he opens up so much ice for his line mates and even when he's not scoring, he can make his presence felt.

I'd give him that contract every day of the week.

he's not perfect, but he's pretty much unique and in itself, that's worth it.

And that's exactly the problem I have with Anderson. It looks like he puts in the effort on most nights but struggles with keeping poessession of the puck. He played on top line back in Columbus on a offensively stacked team yet he didn't produce all that much either.

He does not put up many points, is average defensively and only plays physical once an awhile. I was expecting more from a player we pay 5.5M/yr. That is 2nd line type salary and so far he has not earned it in full.

I did not like the signing when it happened; still don't like it now. I would like to be proven wrong but so far he has not impressed me yet.

He should stay with Suzuki. All year he's mostly produced on his line.

Just imagine he makes 4.25M/yr like Toffoli and that Toffoli makes 5.5M/yr like Anderson.

Problem solved.

I was tough on him the other day on here but nice for him to step up big like that. Toffoli needs to now wake the F up

The current Anderson-Suzuki-CC line is essentially the start of the year line with CC replacing Drouin.

When Drouin was in that seat, they started out well, then faded. I'm all for giving this line time together, and the proof will be in the pudding over time.

This was one of the combinations I wanted to try. But finding Anderson a role would be huge. He hasn't really helped a line since the early success with Drouin and Suzuki.

I agree with you, was simply pointing out Toffoli has been awful lately. Suzuki’s line is our only consistent offensive threat so when one member of the line goes ice cold, it really hurts our offensive output.
