Yet another kid with size, speed and questionable hockey sense

fantastic skater but has consistency issues. Has to work on his decision making and is raw but this is a fantastic pick for Ottawa!

This guy is pretty much boom or bust, but good gamble to make on a 5th round pick. Ranked 81st by McKenzie... that's a 3rd round pick

Ranked #73 by ELITEPROSPECTS.COM
Ranked #82 by FCHOCKEY
Ranked #81 by TSN/BOB McKENZIE
Ranked #194 by MCKEEN'S HOCKEY
Ranked #81 by NHL CENTRAL SCOUTING (NA Skaters)
Ranked #121 by RECRUIT SCOUTING
Ranked #61 by DRAFT PROSPECTS HOCKEY

I usually find McKeens and FC to be fairly tempered in their rankings; really odd to see them over 100 spots apart on this kid.

Donovan’s profile is one I like. Young Guy who was buried in a good team. More responsibility coming. If he has a great season lots of hype

Likes Erik Karlsson and Thomas Chabot.
I like this kid.

Like this pick . Got size and speed late birthday so plenty of room to grow. Don’t like that his dad works for the team but it is a plus that his dad is a development coach that can help him grow.

I thought they would pick him, good for him being picked by the team he watched & was around growing up.

This is a sleeper pick imo. It's hard to get ice-time as a 17yo on a championship winning team. I'd expect him to have a much larger role next season.

Apparently his skating is a great asset and he's Shean Donovan's kid so you know he'll be hard working. Excited to see his progression

I'm really excited about this kid, and I hope @Emerica was right that it was a "young kid, championship team" type thing...

Cause I really don't like the idea that he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs in may, and signed to an ELC in september... hopefully the kid had a killer summer and showed up to camp and proved himself, and this isn't just a nepotism contract.

This is a quick signing for an 18yr old CHLer who was just picked in the 5th round. Clearly we like him a lot. Not sure what the rush was, but I will trust that they know what they're doing.
