Korpisalo has had a great season and he has been our best goalie by far. He’s also hurting our tank so we need to deal him ASAP as Elvis is signed long term and Tarasov is emerging to become a decent goalie, Korpisalo is UFA this off season.

Which team needs quality goaltending ? I believe the price would be a mid round pick and a mid level prospect.

Would be a good option for Pittsburgh. DeSmith isn't good enough to back up the oft-injured Jarry.

There's several clubs that need immediate goalie help and shouldn't wait for the deadline. The Kings might not make the playoffs if they don't get it fixed soon.
You'd have to think that getting Korpisalo would be worth at least a 3rd rounder for them.

For the Jackets, trading Korpisalo now would put them on the level of the 2015 Sabres, who got rid of any goalie that was playing too well. It would look terrible. But if you're going to tank in a year like this I don't think you can win without making it obvious. A sneaky tank isn't going to get you low enough.

Those injuries are only going to carry you so far.

Korpisalo looks so good when he's on. And then... well, his inconsistency the last few years has been surprising. :dunno:

Can they retain some?
Dont know that they would be in a hurry to retain for 4 years and probably have to add a sweetner on top. At this point for better or worse im guessing they are locked into him and Tarasov for now. With Korpi healthy and finding his game I doubt he'll be in a hurry to stick around with Elvis there making more. Somewhere in there Elvis is a good goalie but he has just become a chaotic mess on the ice with technique going straight out the window

I think Korpi is a strong goalie when he is able to remain healthy and get a steady stream of starts.

I think he struggles when he has to sit a week between starts such as what happened when he was backing up Bobrovsky and then Elvis. Also when he gets injured and misses time, he takes a while to get going again. If a team acquires him for spot duty or to even rotate as part of a regular goaltending tandem, then I think he will struggle. But if a team suffers an injury to their starter and needs someone to play regularly, then he would be a good add.

He's mostly been rotating this year and has an above league average save percentage.

They need to trade Elvis... He's done in Columbus.
They just need to wait until next year. Goalies can go from great to awful and back again in no time, and Elvis was better than Korpisalo for a number of years. Korpisalo has been available for a few years now and this is the first time in years that he's playing well enough for teams to maybe want him.

That's true and I admit it's almost impossible to account for this given he was coming off of injury early in the season and when a goalie struggles he's rotated out. But dating back to Korpisalo's play in the AHL, it has always seemed like when he can string together starts his play becomes more consistent.

Korpi will get a 3rd at best. I like him and he's played very well this year, however, he comes with history, comes with injury concerns and he isn't looked at as a starter. He'll be insurance at worst, backup at best and that's a mid to late round pick. I'm guessing they get a 4th at the deadline. That will be a great pickup for whomever ponies up.

You'd think a 3rd would be good enough for a team like LA who is having goalie issues right now. They don't need a long term guy because of their contract situations, so a pure rental for a goalie on a hot year might be exactly what they need.

A cheap pending UFA goalie who is playing well with playoff experience on a team trying to tank.

I can think of a goalie who checks all the boxes like this. He will be the most sought after goalie imo.
