4 years left at 5.5m with a 15 team no trade list which I'm assuming would all be lottery teams because he's a beast in the playoffs.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Vegas offer Connelly + Hague/Whitecloud for Marchie at max retention. Would it pay off? Probably not but they need some creative thinking to fix the top line RW.

35 next season. Dash 29 and only 20 goals. Four more years might be difficult to move considering his age and noticeable decline in play.

Bit concerning to me that he will be 35 in December and had 7 goals in 40 games in the 2025 calendar year this past season.

He’s been a great little player and at times last year seemed like one of the few vets in Nashville earning his keep but we could be on the precipice here of an aging, 5-9 winger just hitting his expiry date. I’d be hesitant to think there is more than one good top six year left among his four remaining contract years. What’s the short-term bet worth knowing you have to eat the rest of the years?

I think Marchessault is full value for a decent 1st/2nd line winger now, never the 42 goals he got the year before in Vegas, probably better than the 21 he got in the dumpster fire in Nashville. For him, I think he voiced early displeasure with the coaching in Nashville, and I'm sure it was an extremely frustrating season for him watching that kind of incompetence when he was coming from a much higher standard.

I wouldn't trade him from the Nashville perspective unless I was getting something like a late 1st (or equivalent prospect).

Except Trotz may be taking Marchessault's criticisms or any trade request somewhat personally, and it wouldn't shock me if he essentially "liquidated" him for a lesser return. Which would be a foolish reversal considering how he previously went out and wooed the player and touted him as part of the new core of "winners" he wanted to build his team around. If he thought that highly of Marchessault, he should continue to value him accordingly in a trade. He shouldn't feel like he NEEDS to trade him just because the guy (sensibly) doesn't like the coach. Except... from Trotz's coach mentality, that's probably an unforgiveable faux pas for a player. :help:

So who really knows what he'll get. Trotz doesn't seem too concerned about seeking out value in trades he makes when he wants guys gone. :eyeroll:
