I officially claim that my wife was the first ever fan to know 100% for sure we were drafting Tavares.. we flew in from Ohio to attend the draft party and wandered over to the arena way early..
She saw TAVARES nameplates in a kiosk and said JEFF COME HERE! IT'S TAVARES.

Chris,
If you leave the Marriot, and walk right to the Coliseum .. there's a few doors that are open, and one kiosk on the concourse that's closed..
But on the side there's plexiglass where you can see in just a little bit.
But what you can see is two stacks of nameplates all the same width, one stack taller than the other, the nameplates on the top fo the stacks say: TAVARES

Can you give me a little more detail about why you're over there. May write up a fun story. Be specific about where you went and what you saw

Hey Chris..
If they had them for all players, I promise, I would have said so.. I only saw Tavares ones.. They just had JT ones sitting there.. really..
It's at the kiosk near the Collesium entrances directly facing the back doors of the Marriott.. you walk in and there's a balloon arch and stairs leading down to a restaurant.. it's to the left of those stairs..
Anyhow, I think Mr. Logan and Jaffe will have a big plate of crow to eat.. which is fine with me, cause the team benefits.. hopefully your blog continues (funded) next season.. wife and i are planning on going to RC Dugan's tonight! Thanks for all your efforts..

CB covered his behind and wrote an article about how both JT and Duchense nameplates where there.. he didn't know me from adam so I don't blame him for the CYA stuff.. But there weren't any other nameplates there.. there were just Tavares ones..
When we were walking back to the hotel we looked and saw like a hundred tailgaters in the parking lot.. I so wanted to go tell them all, but my wife convinced me not to play spoiler... when I got back to my room I couldn't help it and I emailed Botta..
When we returned to the Coliseum after the event officially opened the stack had been turned upside down.. I questioned the kiosk workers about the nameplate stack and you could tell they were like "uhh.. uhhhmm .. er... uhhhhhhhh"
We live in FL now, but at the time we lived in Ohio.. I just knew that draft was going to be a franchise-changing event, so we flew to NY just to be there..
Articles like this one make me feel we're very much relevant (on the ice) in the NHL again.
