Whatever Eriksson-Ek did really pissed off Kuz last night:

How is this not a penalty?

But apparently Eriksson-Ek is great at getting under opponent's skin and being a front of the net pest. I'm also surprised that the slew foot from Kuz was not called. But when talking about good pests no one talks about how good Eriksson-Ek really is at being one.

He's not just a pest, but is an underrated offensive and defensive player. Should be worthy of Selke consideration.

He has been!

Last year he was 7th and the year before was 4th.

He is a damn good center. Not elite offensively, but pretty damn good AND plays some stellar defense and pest.

He's not so easy to move, they get frustrated by his ability to maintain position despite their attempts, his face looks so punchable, so they start taking liberties, then get more frustrated by his ability to absorb the abuse and still maintain position without getting overly frustrated himself and taking retaliatory shots, so they start to take even more liberties out of even more frustration.

Love his game, hate to play him. I'm not even sure I'd call him a pest really, he's gritty but I've never noticed him doing anything but playing hard and being a big ass immovable dude. Maybe just me though, 'pest' to me is a guy that skirts the line to try to get under an opponents' skin and I've never seen JEE play anything but an honest game, and we've had some heated spats with the Wild.

Agreed, pest isn't a word I've used for him.

Yes. He his nickname in the lockerroom is actually Joel "Leguizamo" Eriksson - Ek

that clip is f***in hilarious

not really doing anything that could be penalized, just mildly inconveniencing everything kuznetsov tries to do while acting like he isn't

i can see how that could be effective against egotistical NHL players

Against the Bruins the other day, one of the Bruins knocked him down and play stopped right after on a save or something. Eriksson Ek gets up, gives the closest Bruin a cup check then turns to the stripes and starts yapping about some outrage or other.

He's a hell of a player but that gave me a chuckle. Definitely got some pest blood in those veins.

He gets destroyed by stickwork all game long, it’s honestly a little baffling that his face isn’t eternally covered in bruises, I know he is missing all of his teeth. He is basically the modern poster child for the rule book doesn’t really apply when it comes to net front battles, I personally don’t think he gives remotely as close as he gets in those battles, but at the end of the day, he ends up in the winning position more often than not, guy is a warrior and absolutely deserves some recognition. He has been so good and consistent over the past few seasons, and continues to elevate his offensive play, when Bergeron is finally out of the league, I hope he starts getting some of the national recognition that he deserves.

In that clip, Kuzy had a chance to put EEK's head in between his legs and do the powerbomb wrestling move but EEK is lucky that Kuzy didn't do it. Wouldve ended the guy's career.

I would call him" Nevalyashka". That Russian toy which always stay up ... You try to turn it over but she stands up again.

Probably not the spirit of the team, but well behaved gent who is also smart as a hockey player.

2-way game is obviously S-tier.
