Good? Bad? indifferent?
LHD and late 20s pick

Complete garbage return if you ask me

Im glad to see him go, tbh. His skating wasn't making it here, so I'm glad they cut bait before he lost value.

Am I wrong to think the 2025 pick is likely a lotto pick?
What 2025 pick? Minnesota is top 3 in the league right now

To sum it up:

We draft PLD at 3 and end up with Jordan Harris

We draft Jiricek at 6 and end up with Daemon Hunt and magic beans which is late 1st round pick

I was of the opinion that we weren't going to settle on a lesser package for him but things must have been that irreparable and/or the new regime just didn't think he was that good

Plus our 4th overall pick this year (Lindstrom) has yet to play a game.

Horrible asset management.

Im an idiot and got Minnesota confused with someone else.

Still, I think Jiricek has shown so little since being drafted that I think getting this package is lucky for the Jackets. I'm not convinced David will become anything noteworthy in the NHL.

And let's just say that some assets near the trade deadline also fetch a 1st rounder (like Provorov)

DW building assets to build his team. potential for 3 1st round picks that could be packaged into something or be used to find the right guys that were weren't finding before.

If they acquire another 1st round pick at the TDL, I am willing to bet anyone neither the player drafted with the MIN 1st nor the player drafted with the TDL acquired 1st amount to any NHL player.

You can flame me, but so far every top 6 pick except Fantilli/ KJ has been a total disaster in the last 20 years of Jackets history
Werenski.

It won't happen, because Waddell has made it abundantly, overwhelmingly clear that he does not have the slightest f***ing clue how to do trades. He just traded a #6 overall blueliner for two late picks and another Jordan Harris.
still cranky from the OSU game?

Hunt fits the system we are trying to build. Laine was addition by subtraction no matter how Harris turns out.

I see the roster he built in Carolina and I'm not being short sighted about this. Jiricek would never fit in the Carolina system because of his skating ability and he wasn't going to be a fit here. Let's start finding players who do.

Jiricek won’t make it until he can improve his skating. Who knows if that will ever happen- it hasn’t yet… IMO this isn’t great but is enough quantity to offset the meh-ness of it. I’d guess that we’ll have at least 3 first rounders this year, and guessing we’ll see a trade involving those for another solid current player.

You do realize we just traded a 6th overall pick, a rare to find RHD blue chip prospect for a package you typically see for a good TDL rental ?

Peace out!! Same with Laine, nowhere near the player HE (and many fans around here) thinks he is.

With Werenski still around for hopefully his entire career and Mateychuk BUSTING at the seams, Jiricek’s value to the organization was minimal.

And that’s without all of his current flaws to do with his game AND mindset, and almost looking at his “ceiling” as a player as a guarantee. Hes NOT a good skater and does NOT think the game well.

Don’t let the door hit yea, Dave. Now it all depends what Waddell starts flipping these assets into.

You realize we just traded a FORMER 6th overall pick that was never going to be a fit here with how the organization is moving forward and prioritizing skill sets. He was Jarmo's pick.

If there were better options available I'm sure they would have been taken over this one.

Are we sure about that?
He wasn't a top 10 NHL draft pick so obviously he must NOT be a future NHL'er. :sarcasm:
