That lockerroom is soooooo bad, even beloved Shark Brendan Dillon cant fix it.

Chevy coming back is just going to be runback of this year. It's over for them and this sucks so much (coming from ab outsider fan who wants the Jets to be successful)

Honest question here...people love to poke fun at the Evander Kane track suit incident etc. Big Buff, and Wheeler and Sheif were a core part of that team no? And despite Kane being a diva who likely deserved what he got the same leadership(Minus buff who would rather just walk away) is in place?...strikes me as kinda funny in a way. Maybe my years are off a bit though on what's considered their core. Kinda funny though out of all of them Bogo included Kane Is arguably the most successful atm.

Idk while Buff was still with the Jets the team still functioned. After he retired the team started to unrevel. Seems to me Buff held the team together.

Similar to imho Pavelski in San Jose. The second he was gone the Sharks fell to shit

Is this just the owners not wanting to pay contracts of fired guys, on top of new hires? If ever their was a team that needed to remove the GM it is WPG. They have done nothing back in WPG with him at the helm and had good enough rosters a few years back to do something. Feels like they are just trying to save money.

Same thing with the Flames seemingly bringing back Sutter cause they don't want to pay him 8 mil over the next 2 seasons, eventhough his style of game very likely cost them the playoffs this year and under-performances of a number of players.

If there's no trade to be had i think Jets should buy out Wheeler now. I don't think he and Bones can co-exist anymore.

Doesn't even leave that big of a cap penalty. I think this would be the correct move.

There's no way they don't get at least a small asset with 1 year remaining on his contract. A team like Chicago can take him for a 3rd with the intention of flipping him at the deadline.

He has a NMC outside a 5 team trade list. He's not going to the Hawks and no contender on that 5 team list wants Wheeler imho. Not to mention he's paid his full cap hit in salary next year

I think they have to buy him out to get rid of him

The mystery of Kevin Chevyldayoff is the greatest hockey mystery of all time. How can a GM that bad maintain his job for this long? He's useless.
What's bad about him? He's built a pretty successful team that has almost never had a really poor season, made the postseason 5 of the past 6 years, won a few series, been in a conference final and has really good players including a number of good later round draft picks. And that's all against the backdrop of being a "market" that ranks 32nd of 32 cities that players want to play for.

Their worst season since 2011 was just slightly below fake-500 (78 points) - that is the best "worst" season of any Canadian team in that period - by quite a bit, actually. Only Calgary is close to that.

The expectations of the owner appear to be quite low, Jets fans are starting to realize this.

Poor seasons from the Flyers and Pens meant significant changes, and the same today with Calgary. Winnipeg? Nah, we're good. Furious coaches, coaches quitting, player rebellions, first round exits, and an indifferent GM. The constant striving for mediocrity for this franchise is real.

Just speaks to the team's financial woes that they are willingly bringing back a lameduck coach and a failed GM rather than pay the buyout.

Does ANYONE think retaining these two is in any way related to putting the team in the best position to be a Stanley Cup contending team now or in the future? Absolutely not
Agreed. On most other teams with this little success the gm has outlived about 5 life spans.

But Sakic in Colorado and Yzerman in Tampa for so long and they are the last few cup winning GMs so you know

Not sure u can compare winnipeg to most markets... I guess I'd say.. Buffalo Minnesota the cdn teams, Nashville, st Louis outside of 1 run... we match up well against them

First it was Don Waddell and now, Kevin Cheveldayoff. This franchise does like to keep their crappy GM's (and PoHO) around for waaayyy too long.

I am dissapointed but not surprised.

It does seem like a statement by the team that it is Bowness' way or the highway.

Bowness is the old school actor coach, who once the players figure out he's an actor, it's over. Didn't seem to have a good grip on the room to begin with.

Can a Jets fan enlighten me because I'm not too familiar with their team but just as an outsider, Chevy has been the GM for what, almost 15 years now, they have gotten past the 1st round once, the last coach quit, Bowness is known as one of the nicest guys in hockey and he's pissed, Stastny called them out, and now they are going into a critical rebuild phase. Why is he still the GM?
Does it really matter though as everyone loves a train wreck and it can't be as bad as the BB treatment that happened in Vancouver this year can it?

If there ever was a NHL team personified a Lord of the Rings creature it would be the Jets and the Ents.

Nonsense. The team was worth 200 million in 2012. Its worth 650 million today. That's some kind of money pit.

You were clearly dog whistling it.

No I wasn’t. Don’t put words in my mouth.
