Everybody likes goals, but I think Arniel still has the plan with roles. Jets PK has fallen to 22nd, and a big reason for that is their best PKer is on the shelf.

For the bottom 6 guys who are here, I think you might be in danger of losing your job to a deadline acquistion if you don't pick it up. Morgan Barron has better metrics than AI, Kupari and Namestnikov on the PK. So far Gus has been used sparingly as a PKer which is a bit of a surprise given that is basically the role that has kept him in Winnipeg so long. But he hasn't been good on the draw either. I'd say there is a good chance he is on waivers next year, this year he might survive and get those opportunities if someone in the bottom 6 goes down.

PP2 hasn't really been the issue this year. Maybe with Ehlers going down and Perfetti moving up, no one filled the void. Which Chibrikov just did. If you are looking forward, maybe you see Chibrikov as the replacement for Ehlers.

I guess if Chibrikov has a high enough impact 5 on 5 you could consider moving someone out of the lineup. But it's a little difficult to conceive of improving a bad PK that has cost the team some points in recent games by negation.
Yeah I think Gus is a legit 4th liner but not on the Jets with the depth we have.

Ok this is funny. I guess I had a Hey Boomer moment

Proverb. even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while. A usually unreliable person can be right sometimes, even if it is just by chance.

In my context I got lucky with my prediction that I thought the Jets were going to come out with with energy.

And you kids get off my lawn (wait does that have a different meaning too? :sarcasm::laugh:
I don't think it's that. The Jets aren't as bad as their play has been over the last couple of weeks. Just regression - they're always due for some, one way or the other.

I know the one about blind squirrels but the orig post never said blind. If your having a Boomer moment try being me a decade older than the Boomers.

Gave up years ago trying to keep current with slang when my grandkids use phrases and none of their parents know what they mean. One lass of 14 said something to her brother that made no sense and her father came up behind from her and asked what it ment and she turned bright red.
Some things never change.

Okay, so somebody had to look it up and you had to figure it'd be me. If you type [slang "getting a nut"] into Google it says:

The slang phrase "getting a nut" is a reference to having an orgasm. It can also refer to testicles or the clitoris.
I call this trying to get a nut and giving up.

When the team is "on", they'll tend to have a higher shooting percentage because that's the type of goals they score
Sure. But I think it is wise to temper the euphoria a bit after a game like that.

I hope that last night's game was a result of getting home and a little rested. I hope they are back to the way they were earlier in the season. We'll see.

I don't know that "the Jets were due to bring" has any basis in reality (cf: Chicago or Nashville being due/overdue for a victory). And I don't know that "getting a nut" today means what you think it means (cf: Princess Bride). But I'm in enthusiastic agreement with everything else you said.

We were reminded why the number one line got that position and how smoothly they can pass and make plays, but it was a night when everyone was skating. When they weren't fighting. The officiating looked pretty good from my couch although they may have a let a few bad hits go on both sides Helle was both on his game and blessed with a lot of in-close luck and our defence was actually up to the challenge. So bring on Vegas!

Edit: Anyone else wishing we could have saved 4-5 of those goals for another game.

I would agree about saving some goals for Vegas but after some of the dirty shit Boston did last night i wanted the Jets to score 20 .Honestly we have scored the most goals in the NHL , i think when we play like we can we are going to score goals.

And humans are choosing what a high danger chance is and who knows exactly who that human is or how they are qualified.

Nothing like science with no controls.

At least when a "high danger chance" is quantified in a way, we can evaluate the criteria and adjust if needed.

And sure, that's prone to mistakes; still beats the pants off Team Jockocracy still trying to figure out how Gus losing the fight gave us Momentum(tm)

Gus's fight didn't give us momentum but it sure pissed off the entire team and coaches. I think that in turn made the Jets play even harder .

Is Perfetti going to be an important piece of the future? He's running out of time for "he's still young". By next year I don't want to hear any excuses about his age.

I was thinking he got the kick in the pants he needed last year and would come back this year strong but aren't we getting the same Perfetti we saw last year? Started out strong like everyone else but now the production is becoming more sparce as teams are locking down their defensive structure. To be honest that bridge is looking smarter and smarter for the Jets.
Some people who look at those speed stats say he's fast but I just see him late to everywhere he needs to be and does little more than waive his stick around. He does very little defensively to get the puck back. Offensively he has great vision but seems to use it from the perimeter for the most part like much of his game, which has worked well on the PP when he has all day to find some seems. He gets half his points on PP2. I guess you can say it's not fair to judge him without Ehlers but that's just admitting he isn't driving jack shit.

So far I'm seeing a complementary player more than a core piece.
Still more points in less ice time than Beniers, Slafkovsky, Byfield, Pinto, Mercer and many more all who got big paydays.

Cole has been snake bitten and still is on pace for 50 points. When the puck luck turns I still expect a 55+ point season.

looks like he has earned coaches trust with great d, increased physicality and is now good at board battles with a lot more ice and even playing 4 on 4 and OT lately

I think baron is pushed out first, then its a toss up between apples and iafallo. Baron is not exempt and would get pick up for sure on waivers, with Gus going on IR ( hopefully ), it keeps a spot open
Willing to bet neither Iafallo or Apples sit for a game unless injured. As Arniel is a defense first coach and those guys have defensive chops. If Barron came out it's just as possible he comes back in as the centre for Kupari, who is the only player to be healthy scratched this year. As a better PKer so far this season.

As far as I know, "Get off my lawn" means go away, leave me alone. But what Stumbley said about his grandkids' slang being totally alien to another generation is sure true. It doesn't even take a generation. I'm about 9-11 years older than the majority of my students and I overhear all sorts of slang and have no clue what they're talking about.

Some days, that's probably a good thing. Time to call it a day and head for a fitting.

I was curious about the take on that fight from the Bruins's board. It was mostly utter disgust at what Frederic did. Last night on the Kenny vs Renny post game show, it was Renny who spent about 30 minutes defending Frederic. What a moron.
I think Renny , who I am sure is a poster on here ( haha) loves playing the heel . There is no way anyone would think what FredDICK did was sportsmanlike or part of hockey. He not unlike many players (i.e.) macovy on Perfetti took advantage of the situation and showed an utter lack of respect for a fellow union member.
Kenny n Renny is a decent show but Jets at noon is superior and I am sure Toth posts on here too 😂

Perfetti is not showing up on the score sheet but he is getting chances hitting the post or just missing the net ... a couple of those go in and the negativity stops.
I see improvement in him heck I even saw him lay a good body check in one of their losses last week. Perfetti took a cheap head shot last night and bounced right back. Imo he just needs chemistry with his linemates which is coming along.
People need to stop looking at the score sheet ... he not a superstar (yet):D but he is a good team player. Remember last year Jets were winning big I think it was 5-0 and with a few seconds left he went down to block a shot from the point to save Helly's shutout. Nobody remembers that but his teammates do and that's all that matters.
He is 22. First overall from his draft hit 57 points last year. A bit of patience might be in order. If he keeps growing his game, gains strength and can hit 50 points this year that should be a win.

No excuses, no excuses need to be made. The point is, he has been producing above all of those players, players that are all considered high end young players, while playing well and contributing to the team success. He is a +11 (near the top pf the team), has 18 points in 30 games, all while providing good defence and all around play. He is still only 22 years old and continuing to grow as a player. The consistency in point production will come, but ups and downs happen to almost all young players, even some number 1 overall picks like Slaf and Bedard, Lafreniere etc.

Snakebitten happens to everyone yes, but he has hit like 8 posts this year, and teamates have missed numerous golden opps he setup recently like Lambert a couple of games ago and Conner last night and Vladdy on a couple bways.. He could very easily have 8-10 more points and then everyone would be saying how well he is playing

Recently the coach has been playing him a lot more (16+ mins a night for the last 5 games), and in a lot more high leverage situations (OT and 4 on 4) which seems to indicate he is gaining more trust, which is a great sign in his development.

It almost might be better if he has another slow year to allow the jets to sign him to a lower value long term deal.
