Said before the game that I thought the Jets were due to bring more energy to the game tonight and I got that part right. Something about a blind squirrel getting a nut rings true.

Thought we had great compete tonight, won allot of battles. Even smaller guys like Fetts were hard on the puck on the walls causing turn overs. Had to go pick my kid up from his winter formal (grade 11) so I missed the fireworks towards the end of the game.

Well done tonight Jets. First line was on fire. Heinola and Stan looked good for the most part. Fleury is settling in on that 2nd pair now.

Thanks Jets, I think our fan base needed that type of win.

There was one sequence where the puck was in the corner to Helly's left and Chibrikov was harrassing 6'5" Carlo (IIRC). The puck went somewhere else, Carlo disengaged, then he circled behind the net to come up beside Helly on the other side. Meanwhile Chibs beelined through the crease to reengage Carlo by pretty much skating right into his face (in a manner of speaking considering Chibs is 7 inches shorter), thereby neutralizing Carlo. It was hilarious. Anyway, there's just no fear or quit in Chibs, and quite clearly from the crowd reaction after his goal he is already a fan favourite. Love his interviews too, all deadpan and all business.

Jimmy Mann was as tough as they come. Maybe Bauer should get a shot next time we play Boston.
Whenever we play a greaseball team, that likes to use intimidation to win, I would certainly put Bauer in the lineup. He's a very very tough customer, and would keep the other team honest. We can't afford to lose good players when the score gets lopsided, and other teams start taking free shots at our talent guys.

Always been a big Chibs fan. Ton of skill and grit. His defensive maturation in the AHL is showing. Going to be hard to leave him out of the lineup
It would be a great idea to put Chiiby in Appleton's spot, on the 3rd line, as we need the extra scoring that he brings. He's also feisty and will go to the front of the net. PERFECT guy to replace Apples.

Some may say Chibby doesn't have the defensive skills that Apples has, but you also have Lowry and Nino to cover.

Here's whats important the Jets have to take the next step up, to start beating Vegas, who has beaten us in the last 9 of 11 games. They have a lot of depth and scoring in their lineup, and we have to start doing the same. I say give Chibby a shot as a regular on the 3rd line to replace Appleton. Appleton just can't score.

After that we work in Lambert and we start levelling the playfield with deep teams like Vegas. We have to make these changes.

Thought Perfetti had one of his best games, he played very well on both defense and offense. Don't think Helly even needed a shower after the game, no way he broke a sweat. Swayman on the other hand had to get sunscreen for the back of his neck from the red light .:naughty: Oh and McAvoy is a dirty bastard .

That is the blue print for Perfetti. He needs to study the film and watch how he played the game tonight without the puck. He was physical (in the right way), forechecked very effectively, got in passing lanes (exhibit A is his assist on Chibby’s goal.

One thing I am loving and it’s what I heard in Arny’s press conference. He said he really liked Lambert and Chibrikov’s games in camp and if someone got injured in the top six he was looking forward to calling them up. Letting our highest pedigree prospects slot in to second the second line is refreshing to say the least.

Also size and toughness alone aren’t enough. OK full disclosure last night was clearly not Boston’s night and I do think their current roster is built better to play Florida in the playoffs now.

However

That reminded me so much of the years we had one of the biggest toughest teams in the NHL. Teams that attacked us with speed and pressure forecheck could turn our size into a disadvantage (early Vegas comes to mind).
