I would take Vilardi off and put Perfetti in .
Interesting, our PP sputtered when Vilardi got hurt.

I'm not taking that body in front and sublime hands off PP1.

Most logically Ehlers should slide to PP2. He's the zone entry king and when PP2 manages to get into the zone on the PP they are pretty effective. They play a simple shoot rebound plan which also would benefit from Ehlers ripper.

I mean Ehlers and Perfetti are the most interchangeable I imagine. Villardi is the only big body, KC and Schief are not coming off, and that leaves room for 1 d.
If you're gonna run pionk on the point of the pp, then you need the QB on the right wall. Wheeler did it for years as a righty but he was pass-first. Having schief, who is a shooter, in that spot isn't ideal

I'd run Cole there as a lefty with Schief in the Gabe in the bumper as a righty, schief on the far side, and Connor down low. Or alternatively, you have Ehlers there instead of Cole but I don't like his decision making with the puck sometimes (which makes him a poor choice to run the PP through)

I guess you could keep it status quo and just run the same PP set up as the season with Pionk up top but not a one timer threat... he'd be better at feeding Connor for one timers as a righty

I'd seriously consider using 5 forwards with Ehlers taking JoMo's spot. I think his penchant for shooting fits there.

Pionk is the main driver on pp 2 now so taking him off it likely hurts that unit as it revolves mostly on his point shot.

Ehlers did not show well when the other team had the puck on the pk last few times so I'd hestitate to try that out.

Chicken before the egg.
You need Vilardi up to speed to be on the PP but you may need him on the PP to GET him up to speed.
Without Morrissey I would consider the 5 forward unit.
Now is a bad time to take Cole off the PP.

Ehlers play on the Blues 3rd goal really pissed me off. Not only does he over skate the puck he dogs the back check, and Vilardi who looked slow as molasses gets caught out there trying to make up the ground.

If he hadn't put up that assist I would have said bye bye Nikky.

In OT I felt like his breakaway was big. Everytime I saw Suter and Leddy on the ice I was saying got to get the puck behind those guys and Ehlers did just that.

And I think what that did was force Montgomery in to shortening his bench so that the Blues rode their top 4 d vs the Jets 5 d rotation for the bulk of OT.

One thing I wonder if anyone remembers is Cole kneeing Binnington in the head, in game 7. Little dirty, just like his spear on Bolduc, but you wonder in retrospect if it had any effect.
Ehlers is probably not even close to being both healthy or game shape ready.
