Stepan has been the most disappointing player this season imo. Fast doesn't look quite like a top6 player with Brassard, but he looks a lot closer and is getting more donee.

As bad as Stepan has been this season, Hayes and Kreider have been bigger disappointments. Especially Hayes.

He has the same p/60 as Stepan -____-

Fast has been a very solid middle-6 player and he is a good fit with Brass and JT. His defensive game allows the other 2 to focus on offense.

Also, Fast in OT today was amazing. That 1 shift where he had the breakaway, then the rebound pass to Yandle, only to skate back to the blueline and carry the puck back to the defensive zone to give his 2 teammates a chance to get to the bench... Very underrated player

Gotta love fast. U can see that he is improving and showing that he is more than capable of just being a 4th liner. Also, he can redirect a puck outta mid air really well. Very underrated player

Been one of my favorite since we drafted him. Quiet, under-the-radar, blue collar hockey. Love it. Can get under the skin of the other team, too.

He can move pretty well; makes me think of a more offensively-inclined version of Torrey Mitchell...and there's still upside.

In a cap league having a guy like Fast who can slot in all over the lineup and be effective is absolutely invaluable.

Having Fast and Lindberg signed for a mere $1.6 M together !!! next year will be very handy when the cap squeeze will be on.
Guy has played very well as of late, Lindberg looks a bit gassed though
Hope he can find a second wind like Hayes did last year

Disagree. Hayes has sucked, but it's only his second year in the league. The dreaded sophomore slump.

Kreider has also been disappointing, but his up-and-down, inconsistent play has pretty much defined his career to this point. Maybe we're naive to expect more.

Stepan on the other hand, is a veteran, a leader on the team, and someone who has consistently produced. The disappearing act he has pulled this year is totally out of the blue and really kneecapped the offense.

Fast really didn't fit with Stepan and Kreider. When playing with them he'd pull up a lot and try to make cross ice passes, he'd try to be a lot flashier than he's capable of. He's simplified his game and his line has been considerably more effective because of it.

anyone read this article about Fast? That AV quote certainly makes it seem like he is one of those AV guys. I bet he remains in the top 6 for a while even when nash returns.

Well with how he's played lately I'm not against it. He's been awesome with Miller and Brassard.

I'm not against it either. I think eventually that brass and zucc will go back together just because they have the best chemistry together, but I have really liked Fasts game lately. He sure has come a long way from being a healthy scratch for the likes of tanner glass.

Fast is a fantastic asset. Feels like he brings it most of the nights as well, he plays like he cares. You rarely catch him making blatant misplays. I'd say he is a smart player, but lacks some offensive creativeness and finishing ability. Nevertheless a solid, hard working player at a neat price.

I like what Sam said during the Devils game. Miller told him that he enjoys playing with Fast and that Fast has as much offensive skill as defensive skill. It might not show up on the scoreboard all the time, but here's a nice comparison when looking at points per 60 minutes ES, you know... Considering that he has played bottom 6 minutes for a large chunk of the season:

Jakub Voracek, Chris Kreider, Ryan Getzlaf: 1.63
Jesper Fast, Derek Stepan, Patric Hornqvist: 1.61
Andrew Ladd, Charlie Coyle: 1.59
Gabriel Landeskog, Patrice Bergeron: 1.57
Pavel Datsyuk, Ryan Strome: 1.56

Terrific game by Fast. Him and Miller played big roles in shutting down the Crosby line.

Glad he's playing well. we will need his contributions come playoff time. i like how he can adjust and fit into different lines. Great play at end of game to get open net goal. totally sacrificed for that one.
