According to the public Swiss broadcasting corporation the director of the Swiss ice-hockey national teams said, that regarding this tournament the duration of the suspension doesn't matter from a Swiss perspective. However, in the "sense of ice-hockey" they will quietly look into further steps.

Rüfenacht on the ice is a mighty trashtalker, and can put a smile on his faces to go with the talk that can drive you mad. Plus he's a master in dishing out little hidden fouls to go with a relentless effort in puckbattles. It's no surprise of all swiss players he's the one at the receving end of a retaliation play.

Not that it takes anything away from the stupidity of that incident.

As I've read Slovenia and Switzerland share the same hotel... So maybe it's an "affaire a suivre"...

Just to add to this: the manager/director of the Swiss ice hockey national teams Raeto Raffainer said that the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation really wanted to appeal to get a harsher verdict, both to get "justice" for Thomas Rüfenacht (this were not his exact words) and for the sake of ice hockey in general.
