That was crazy. If that connected with the neck, it could be life-threatening. Out of hockey for good, IMO.

This is even more shocking taking into account it is Jeglic, one of the nicest hockey players I've known of. Have no idea what was going through his head.

I think he saw an opportunity to push him with his skate since the natural motion of his leg went up the boards anyway. Definitely worthy of a suspension, but I don't think Jeglic intended to cut his neck. Unsportsmanlike, sure. A year long suspension? Unwarranted.
The skate is not in his face, what are you talking about?

It's a dick move, not a criminal offence.

Do you realize how dangerous this is? The few times players have had their neck/throat cut have looked like slasher movies. This type of behaviour is unacceptable.

and what did the other slovenian do? having his hands on the swiss players face for 1 minute or something.

quite shocking anyways, slovenia is soft and never hits, so i did not expect slovenia to do stuff like this.

Lifetime ban for sure. That was extremely dangerous and he meant to do it. 2 games is laughable the guy purposely hit someone with his skate. Jeglic is a joke

Ruefenacht would have to lay in hospital for Jeglic to get banned the right amount of time... unfortunately. Some day you are going to face the consequences when someone gets hurt real bad if you don't punish them for the action.

Should be a criminal charge, let a judge or jury decide. I've NEVER seen a player appear to try to use the blade of a skate to cause harm to another player - seen kicking with the toe of the skate but the blade, never. Bizarre act and it should be in a criminal court.

Intent or not, at least in Sweden you can be judged as severe if you are "negligent" as if you do it on "purpose".

I think it was intentional. He even thrusts it a bit as he's bringing it over the boards.

it wasn't directed to opponents neck but to his shoulder. But he should be suspended until the end of this year from all competitions, skate blade is not a tool to push players away...

Jeglic is a seriously lucky man. And the suspension plays a little role in that. If he got a little less lucky there, he'd be defending himself against manslaughter charges, would be facing multiple years in prison and have to live with the knowledge of having ended a man's life. You don't often get this close to it. Hopefully he'll never come close to making a mistake that ever again and learn a lesson without the proper punishment.

The skate could easily have cut an artery or something and caused massive bloodloss / death. I'd categorize this as an attempted murder and would file criminal charges.

That he only got suspended for 2 games is a big joke.

It looks intentional, but either way. Intentional or not when you see your teammate shoving someone towards you, you really should know better than putting your ****ing skate there. If the other guy had made another push on his head at the wrong time that could had gone REALLY bad.

Intentional move imo, he extends his right leg while standing already on his left. Imo he kicked/pushed Rufenacht into upper left body/shoulder close to neck, but certainly not into neck. View from different angle would help. Dumb move nevertheless, and quite shocking from someone like Jeglic who is considered a clean player.
