Why would Carolina have any reason to trade him. He is their best offensive weapon on an offensively challenged team

Maybe for Price and hope we can win every game 1-0.
And before anyone says anything, I know that'll never happen, but why else would the Canes trade Skinner?

He is 24, going to be UFA in 3 years. They are so far away from a playoff caliber team. If they think they could get younger players/picks back why not?

For example:

1st Round Pick, Good/Great Prospect Forward prospect, Good/Great Goalie Prospect.

24 years old is still very young. And three years is a long time before he becomes a UFA. Skinner could very well be a part of the Canes' long term future.

Plus, you can't just fill a team up with prospects and guys under 24 years old. That's no way to develop players. You need to have some top line guys in order to insulate the younger guys and not force them to carry too big a load right away.

I'm gonna..
They probably have the best or 2nd best future defense in the league. They need to keep all the offense they do have to support them.

Okay guys and gals I'm not a fan of either team , but for some reason I always could see skinner being a capital . So I apologize if this is way off but could see something like

To caps

Skinner

To Carolina

mojo, samsonov, 2nd

Caps are going into win now for next few seasons, skinner can help distribute offense in the playoffs ..

Carolina get some scoring back with mojo and a future number 1 goalie.

If I am way off my apologize to both teams and fans not trying to troll just seemed like a decent idea

I think the conversation would need to start with Vrana, Samsonov, and a 1st. Even at that, it's kinda silly to trade a current 30 goal scorer in his prime for a couple of lotto tickets

We have craptons of defensive prospects and a great goalie prospect in need a spellcheck. All we want is high end offensive talent. We aren't moving any of our forwards....we can trade D for F.

What the heck is with all these Habs proposals asking for other team's core players for cheap? There's been an unusually large number of them lately...

This had nothing to do with Montreal.... I was looking for a Canes perspective

Give them Gal and I think you have a case.

Which is not going to happen, what does that offer do to Carolina?
They even aren't far away from being a playoff team today, give them a good goaltender and they could be already this year.

So Skinner is worth 3 1sts? Maybe to Carolina, certainly not to Wsh and not likely to anyone else either. The Caps would be one of the least likely teams in the league to trade for Skinner and if they were willing to offer that package they'd target a better player.

I don't care what Skinner is worth to any other team. I care what Skinner is worth to us. He is our most untradeable player right now. Our offense right now and in 5 years is nothing to write home about. Why trade from a position of weakness with a player who looks like he's going to score 40 goals this year? It'd be like New Jersey trading Taylor Hall, it just doesn't make sense.

You want a defenseman? Let's talk. You want a prospect? I'm all ears. If we trade Skinner we'd want a stupid overpayment because Skinner is the last player I want to trade right now. That includes Hanifin, Faulk, and Aho.

The Canes were the 2nd best non-playoff team in the league last year.
