Jeff Skinner finally makes the playoffs

Well, good. It would have sucked if he never played in the playoffs.

Hopefully he has something left in the tank and will have a decent showing.

I hope he does well. He’s a good guy who works hard and takes a lot of shit from fans for no particular reason. Kind of like Kessel before he went to Toronto and became a meme.
Agreed. I know he had a heavy contract, but up until a couple years ago he was scoring at a nice pace. Has had some streaky years sure, but some great ones too

I haven't been able to watch much Oils hockey this year, he looks like a goal scorer who no longer scores from what I've seen of him, what's his role in the playoffs looking like?

f***in hero, brah, it’s Jeff Skinner. You absolutely want that dude heatin up and talkin to the media, chugging smart water and such. Dude has 1000 games of rage in him, just waitin to score big goals and.. that’s it, that’s his thing.

Not that I got to watch all that many Oilers' games either, but whenever I did see him, he seemed to be among the most active players, yet for some reason the coach seems to hate him. Every random 4th liner got his chance next to McDavid or Draisaitl, but Skinner got shafted again and again. He would score a goal and look really good, and then sit the next game. He would look active and responsible on defense, and he would sit. He would get the odd moment with a star, they would look good, and he would get demoted to a lower line again so that some spare could take his place instead.

For the opportunities he actually got, he has performed quite well. It just seems such a waste to sign someone as top-six winger and then constantly not use him in that role though.

oilers are too beaten up to make him a scratch. Unless something happens he might only get 4 games. LAK will run over the Oilers this playoffs
3 more games for him to get hurt before the playoffs

I am not wishing this on him (or anyone)... but if it happened the irony would be delicious

He will hold a roster spot until Kane returns. He doesn't bring much to team other than replacement level depth.

Henrique, Brown, Perry , Podkolzin and Arvidsson have all looked better than Skinner.

For much of the season his defense has been awful. It has only been the last few months where he's actually put in more work defensively but yeah, for whatever reason the coach doesn't trust him enough still. Instead he trusts players like Connor Brown, Janmark etc because their 200 foot game is much better. But he's trying and that's all you can keep doing at this point. I hope he has a great playoffs. If anyone deserves it it's him.

Kind of a feel good story I guess. Can't say I watch the Oilers much but also reads like Skinner isn't expected to have many opportunities unless he gets really hot in the first few games of the first round.

Would be nice if he showed off what got him to the NHL all those seasons ago... Winners always have a depth fan favourite clutch player. Wouldn't hold my breath it's him though.
