Honestly, you guys looked really good against Vancouver a few games back, so what exactly is going on in New York right now?

On paper, the Rangers look amazing, you have talent, and basically every single position, as someone who does not watch New York Rangers often, what’s the issue right now?
The roster isn't as good as you think it is.

It has name power but a lot of the items in the fridge went bad around 2022 and grew mold.

Zibanejad is a 3C on a contender. Miller is a bottom pair D, and Lindgren and Trouba straight up aren't NHL players. That's your top center and 3 of the top 4 on defense.

Zibanejad has been terrible. He makes multiple soft plays or gets caught way out of position every game and it's been going on for weeks. If Torts were our coach he would have started scratching him like 3 weeks ago. He has not been a defensively responsible player this year and he needs to sit. I'd much rather have other guys playing than him right now. If his head is somewhere else he should go to the coaching staff and tell him he needs some time away.

Two at the bottom having a normal one.

Also Laf is annoying me lately. Bad habits coming back.
Didn’t want to be the one to say it because of my notorious anti Lafreniere bigotry his first few years in the league, but he’s been looking more like 2021-2023 Lafreniere this season rather than 2024 Lafreniere.

Lindgren and Trouba on for 3 GA, Zibanejad on for 4. same old pieces of shit.

coaches keep trotting them on out there though. Lindgren and Trouba should be on waivers tomorrow.
I cant believe Trouba was on for all 5 goals against and Zibanejad was on for 6 against.

When you cheat in rhe O zone avoiding physical contact, you get caught with your meat flapping in the air, turn overs and doubly bad position for your D. Not a leader.

Basically every single skater is playing gutless hockey. Lazy hockey. Sloppy hockey.

To come out with such an uninspired effort after basically being put on notice by the GM is pathetic.

I’m not one for criticizing effort but lately it truly seems like they’re actually not trying hard enough. Lots of going through the motions, tons of coasting and stick reaching, not enough feet moving, virtually nobody finishing checks, just a lot of shifts filled with nothing. It’s just brutal to watch.

Good news: the team didnt play any different without kreider

Bad news: the team didn't play any different without kreider

Still say trade him. Start the retool.

There is no purpose keeping him bc this team aint doing shit with or without him.

We f***ing jest about it
..but it seriously begs the question now: is getting rid of Kreider what's going to take to make Mika give us a tram or two he's willing to be traded to?
I really fear that moving a guy like Kreids this early would spiral this team into hell. My only cope at the moment is that Drury knows just how much the guys love Kreider and this is part of mind-f***ing them into playing better. Didn't see it tonight though which scares me even more.

Zibanejad, Trouba, and Lindgren have regressed significantly (permanently) with the latter two borderline AHLers now.

Kreider, Trocheck, and Miller have also regressed though this is more ECF hangover / feelings of playoff entitlement.

And with all this going on, Lavi refuses to bench the vets and give the kids more responsibility.

Leadership has become non-existent. They're playing like they frankly couldnt care less. No idea why they decided to show up against the 'nucks but they just got out worked and out played by the Blues.

Effort and lack of structure.

This group has just run its course. There may be rifts in the room we don’t know about. Or they just are collectively annoyed at management for things like Goodrow and the Trouba summer. Heck, a few may also be unhappy about how things ended with Hank. Maybe they’re annoyed Shesty wants so much. Maybe they’re annoyed because they think management won’t sign Shesty and they should give him whatever he wants. Who knows? It doesn’t really matter. We can say there’s a decline in talent or argue that they were B level talents to begin with, but it’s abundantly clear that it is also an effort or heart issue.

I have a sneaking suspicion that most players on this team would instantly look better somewhere else - obviously to various degrees - Miller may still be brain dead but he may pick up an edge and play a bit more focused, Zib might not look like he’s on the verge of tears all the time… who knows. I’m not saying they would BE better, but it seems likely they’d at least look like they give a shit again elsewhere.

The group has just run its course. It can’t be a “shakeup”. It has to be significant turnover and it has to be the majority of the vets, or else the issues will just carry over and get passed down.

Honestly, it’s not that different from a breakup where, even if both parties want it to work out, they start to also both know they’d be happier somehow if they go their separate ways. I’m sure all these guys, especially BFFs like Zib/Kreider and Fox/Lindy, probably Goodrow was a glue guy who bonded with a lot of them… they got super close and they probably just want to win one together so bad… but they know they’re not going to, and deep down they just want to move on. They still have chances to win elsewhere. Zib, Kreider, Trouba, could all potentially be on a cup team in a lesser role one day. It won’t be in NY. They look resigned to the inevitable breakup.

K Miller gets talked a lot about here in Vancouver, is he available for a trade?

Lots of people are big fans of him out here

Problem is we are now at the point where something needs to be done. I'm 100% for moving Kreider ONLY if it means we can truly offload Mika.

You’re thinking of Rangers Messier.

What we have here is really Canucks Messier.

Nevermind the trade rumors. Until this team actually commits to a defensive system with structure we will continue to give up 40 shots every night.

And until the forwards actually decide to care we will not win anything.

This is late 90s type of effort. Unreal
High danger all situations 20-7 favoring the Jazz.

This team is defensively despicable.

Miller is probably available. He’s not playing well right now. I have a feeling he’s going to be a really good vet one day but not until he gets older and is physically forced to play a more conservative cerebral game.
