I've been rooting for him since we signed him, and had hoped he got an extended look on the top two lines, as he still has his hands.

However, this year, he started off pretty decent, and then had a bit of a lull as the season went on. It was nice to see him pick it up in the final few games at least.
He hasn't played too much in these playoffs, but hopefully he can be a factor on the score sheet, if needed.

Reactions: Leaf Rocket
Always loved Spezza, even as an opponent. He is a die hard Leafs fan.

I grew up with a guy that is a friend to him and his family. When he was drafted by Ottawa he told me that although he was super excited to be drafted into the NHL, he wasn't happy to be going to a rival of the Leafs. He was hoping to somehow become a Leaf from day one as that was his REAL dream.

No wonder he came home to end his career. It doesn't suprise me he did/does it for the league minimum so long as he is here.

I hope he plays in game 6 and just absolutely goes 06/07 on em.

Leafs nation LOVES YOU TOO Spezza!

His season inexplicably came off the rails after his suspension. He was in top form until then and hasn't really regained it since.
He had 7 goals int he 1st 25 games and the night he was suspended played 19:50 and was a major factor for us.

Didn't that quote about wanting to be drafted by the Leafs come from mcdavid?
:sarcasm:

Spezza has been my favourite Leaf for a while now.

Definitely want to win for him, and no doubt he will be given a position within the Leafs organization when he decides to retire.

Clearly bleeds blue and white.

Hopefully gives them the speech before the game instead of having to wake their asses up during the intermission. Rooting for him to score tonight.

Hope he stays in the organization after his playing days are over
Totally agree with this. It sounds like the young guys and team in general really respect Spezza and value what he says.

Would be a great person to keep in the organization. Plus at this point he gets the Toronto thing; the pressure, the want of an entire City to win, the media, etc.

He's 10x the presence Jumbo Joe was as a Maple Leaf.

I remember him being one of the most dynamic and exciting players when he was a Sen. I'm still happy to see him hit the ice in a Leafs sweater. It's calming to have him as a 4th line option. And I know he could fill in on any line in a pinch.

I get why he was scratched for the first few games this series. But if it were up to me he'd be in the lineup every single game.

My dream is for Spetzky to pot the GWG in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals overtime and to be enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame wearing a Leafs jersey on his placque
Me too, except maybe in Game 6?

Hopefully whenever he retires, he is instantly named leafs assistant coach
He's already earned $88 million. Maybe time to enjoy life when he stops playing hockey.

He may join the coaching staff as early as next season.

Wonder why he didn’t come here when he had the earlier chance but went to Dallas.
