Quietly having another solid season. This guy always picks it up closer to the end of the year and has been scoring big goals for the avalanche lately.

He's at 573 goals right now... I estimate he's missed at least 60 due to lockouts. 633 would be a huge total.

Could he potentially have finished over 700?

Where does he rank against all time goal scorers?

I think he's got at least a couple of years left, he's still in incredible shape.

The two lockouts really hurt his goals/assists total. I think he would have retired around 680 - 710 if they were avoided.

Either way, he'll easily hit 600+ which is a fantastic career!

I hope he gets traded to a contender at the deadline, it would be a shame if he wasted away on Colorado for the last few years of his career.

One of my favorite, if not all-time favorite player/person in hockey. I want to see him lift the Cup before he retires, and it would be especially sweet if he did it as a member of the Islanders.

Wish he didn't turn down that contract Snow offered him over the summer. I think he has one more 30-goal season left in him.

Guy has played the game with skill, class, and grit, all he needs is a Cup title to add to his resume.

[MOD] . He'll have a bed in the Hall before they even hand him the keys.

Get him to the Pens again. Somehow someway.

He'll only be traded if he wants to be traded.

A huge reason why he signed with the Avs was to play with Tanguay again. They've been good friends for a long time and Tanguay was the one who talked to Iggy about the Avs.

If Iggy wants to stay he will. He's almost definitely here for at least one more year though. The Avs are only 3 points outside of a playoff spot right now and playing much better hockey of late. We'll be putting on a push down the stretch to get in and Iggy will be a huge part of it.

You definitely have a great team and have been playing great hockey as of late ( goaltending in particular). Wouldn't say you're a contender though. I'd still like to see iiginla ask for a trade to a team with a chance to go deep, as opposed to watching him squeak into the playoffs and gone in one round.

He's only realistically got a few years left, I don't think Colorado is there yet, but they will be soon, too much young talent on fwd to not contend in 3/4 years. But by then iggy will be hangin them up.

Iginla is awesome, the league needs more players like him. His offensive numbers are more impressive when you consider that he never played with a high end centerman during all his prime years in Calgary.

Let's see what it looks like in that third year. I could see him go as a rental then if need be. But it isn't going to happen now.

Iginla's career, peak, and prime are all better than Elias.

Yup. Ignoring individual accomplishments let's recap what Iginla has won during his career:

2 Memorial cups (WHL player of the year in '96)
World Juniors
World championship
World cup
Olympic gold

If he can win the cup then he'll be at Niedermayer level. As it stands with a SCF game 7 (on a team that really had no business making it out of the first round that year) that's pretty amazing. Now add all of the individual accomplishments and stats...very few people that are in the Hall already have had as complete of a career as Iginla.

Iggy makes HHOF easy.... reality is now guys will be making the HHOF with less points. Doesnt mean the quality is down.

From 2002-2011 Iggy was certainly one of the top 5-10 goal scorers. Hit 50 a few times, 2 Rockets. HAs the hardware.

Also has the international pedigree. 2 Gold medals, including a Gold medal winning assist. Alternate Captain at 2 Olympics. Also has won at every other international level.

One of the greatest players of his generation, if not the greatest.

1st ballot hall of famer unless he retires the same year as four other bonafide 1st ballot guys (Brodeur, Jagr, etc.)
Would he be the first black skater in the hhof?

Exactly. First ballot hhof. And he's wasting his last years on the ava for some reason.

Get that guy on the kings, hawks, preds, etc......

The avs are just a couple games out of a playoff spot after an epically horrific first 30-35 games, with a few UFA options this summer that would solve our last hole. Iggy should get plenty of playoff time without having to continue moving his family around.

A huge reason why he signed with the Avs was to play with Tanguay again. They've been good friends for a long time and Tanguay was the one who talked to Iggy about the Avs.

Also him not wanting to continue uprooting his family as he chased a cup.

The avs have been getting much better results of late, but we're not playing particularly well for the most part, only EJ, Varly and the two oldies are really shining, ROR's nearing his form but Landy, Duchene and MacK are still capable of playing a lot better. We're not contenders, but we have a chance to be back in the playoffs, and if we sign Sekera we'd have all of the pieces in place to actually contend, so next year the avs could make a serious run with a real shot at winning it all in Iggy's last year.

He was always willing to drop the gloves to stand up for a teammate. Especially if that teammate's name is Jarome Iginla.

I've never seen player more selfish and petulant when taking perfectly clean hits. He also likes to flake on his defensive responsibilities to pad his offensive numbers - but he's a gritty Canadian, so never got called on it.
