Do we want him?

Can we even afford him?

It's certainly worth exploring but if he wants to sign a discount 1 year deal I think I'm on board.

I wonder if after all this success the Kings could be the tean that finally starts to lure star free agents out to the west coast.

Maybe possible but he needs to take a discount. Will he? The last chance for a cup? He definitely should!

If the Kings were after a veteran ringchaser, I'd prefer Doan over Iginla cause he's more suited to Kings hockey. Though that ship has sailed and I certainly wouldn't say no to Iginla at the right circumstances. But that's unlikely to happen.

Yes.

Possibly.

This will be a Sutter move similar to Regehr. Make it happen.

But of course only if...

Depends on what happens with the defense and if we let Penner go. Would still be tight though. We've got a lot of players to sign this summer.

A LW would be ideal, but ideal usually doesn't show up. If Carter were moved to C, and if Iginla took a decent pay cut, it wouldn't be the end of the world if he signed with the Kings.

It's probably an unlikely scenario, but it depends on other moving parts.

If the Kings do add Iginla to the roster, then they would have no choice but to move Carter to C, keep Brown at LW and also force Toffoli to learn to play LW.

If Penner leaves, that leaves the Kings with only Clifford and King as left handed left wings. Nolan is primarily a RW who is left handed, but even if he is shifted to LW, it still doesn't address the team's need for a top six LW. Brown and Toffoli would be right handed LW's. If they did shift Carter to C full time and moved Toffoli to LW, a hypothetical lineup may look like this on paper:

Brown-Kopitar-Williams
Toffoli-Carter-Iginla
Clifford-Richards-Lewis
King-Stoll-Nolan
Fraser

They could use Richards on the point on the top PP unit to put him in more offensive situations, but I worry that Richards will be handcuffed playing on a line with Clifford and Lewis.

If he'll take 1 million he's welcome. He doesn't fill any need we have, anything more would be a waste of our limited cap space.

No and No

The guy is a shell of his former self, and is a negative player at 5 on 5 hockey now, that will only get worse with age. Combine that with how much some teams will offer him and NONONO

Door wide open for Pearson to make the team and get key minutes. Penner is likely gone and King and Clifford have been the two worst forwards on the team since about February or March.

As for Iginla, to old, to expensive and the wrong position.

The return in the Bernier trade better be a left wing, pref a left shot one. Anything to push god awful King and Clifford further down the depth chart.

In retrospect, I would rather have Penner than Iginilia.
