He has a nice slap shot. If he gets paired with Karlsson in the future I could see him producing more than Kuba did. I would say 30-35 points sounds about right.
If he gets regular pp time, it would be second pairing.

If he's playing on the top pair with Karlsson and on the top PP I could see 40 points in his prime.
He had 20 or so points in his rookie season paired up with Gonchar with no PP time.

He's got a very good shot and he moves the puck well enough, but I don't see Chara potential, though to be fair, I didn't see Chara potential in Chara when he was 21 either.
If I had to guess, I think he's capable of 10+ goals a year and 30 or so assists. Assuming he gets a bit of PP time. Certainly would be happy with that.
I think Ceci has potential for more offensive upside than that, but he's so young I don't know if any of us can give a reasonable prediction.
Weircioch has finally developed but I think he's a wee bit behind the other 2 (and obviously considerably behind EK) in terms of offensive upside.
Edit: and I said this before, but if he keeps working on his shot he'd be a great pairing for Karlsson on the PP. Karlsson can clear a ton of space for him to let it go. He just needs to be able to be effective with it (i.e. the anti-Kuba).

They are very close. Cowen was viewed as a shut down with an offensive upside. Ceci started out the same way. Just less physical. It was only in his draft year that people started commenting on his offensive abilities.

I really doubt Ceci will be outscored by Cowen. It may just be the Ceci fan inside me saying this.
I see it:
Karlsson (65-70)
Ceci (40-45)
Wiercioch (30-35)
Cowen (30-35)
Cowen did have nice numbers with the Spokane Chiefs with 48 points in 58. I can see him having about 10 goals a season
As for Ceci, I stick with my predictions of his game developing into a Doughty-ish like game.

I just hope he makes it to the NHL and becomes a regular. Are expectations always this high for less than a top 5 or top 10 drafted player?

Doughty is soooo much more physical that Ceci is.
He hardly ever throws his large frame around.
All depends on his defensive partner IMO. Once he has the confidence of always going in with the puck, he will be dangerous. He's doing so in the AHL right now. He'll definitely have his chance, too much upside to ignore.
He'll make it to the NHL. Question is when, I'd say he becomes a regular by 2015-2016 season. I think for sure he's expected to have high expectations with his talent. Dude tore up the OHL scoring for defensemen for draft eligible players.
I'm sure he'll up his game once the big stage comes. He'll gain weight/muscle, get coached into a more physical/defensive game. If we see what he does in OHL, and adds a more physical presence to his game, he'll be huge for us.
At 19 years of age, 6'3" - 215 , he'll likely be 6'4" 225 ish in his 2-3rd year of NHL experience.
He said he hopes his style can be similar to Doughty. Not that hes going to be doughty.

He expects 40-45 points from Ceci, which seems more like his possible peak, seems a bit high for a 15th pick. Nothing would be better than an Ottawa native to become that player though.
Maybe I'm just pessimistic about picks. The moment Karlsson was drafted, I hoped he would be a bit more than a pp specialist, obviously he turned out to be a hockey specialist instead.

I see a lot of people refer to Cowen as in the Chara mold. I don't get it. Chara is arguably the biggest, most fit and strongest player to ever play the game along with having the hardest slap shot ever and by a good margin and could go toe to toe with any enforcer in the game.
Let's just compare Cowen to Cowen because he is no Chara.
i think his absolute maximum would be around weber (granted, i haven't seen weber play many times). cowen is a solid skater and he can uses his speed to join the rush or carry the puck, which he did sometimes last season. he is good at moving the puck from the defensive end, but doesn't have the best offensive zone awareness from what i remember. that's something i'll have to reassess once i see him in action again though. he does have a bomb of a shot, so he can be useful on the power play. in the defensive end, he has to learn when to go for a hit, and when to just use his reach to keep the play to the outside. it is good that he is willing to throw around his large frame, at least he doesn't have to be encouraged to do that.
the safe prediction for him is what most people have already stated - 30-35 points. he has the potential, in my opinion, to put up 40-50, where 50 is an exceptional year. that's not what i'm expecting though, as i don't know how his offensive zone smarts are going to pan out.

People underestimate Cowen, maybe because we have Karlsson?
Cowen is in himself an amazing all-around defender. He plays phenomenal defensive hockey with physical presence and a big frame to cover a big portion of the defensive zone but at the same time has a very good first pass, can rush the puck up ice due to his surprising speed and has a booming shot.
Cowen can be a Weber-lite. He has all the tools as well as the toolbox. He got near 20 points in his rookie year, I can see 40 for sure. Especially when he pairs up with Karlsson.
I remember when Cowen played a couple games with Karlsson and they looked like magic on some shifts. They read off each other and complemented each others game. Will be scary to see how they both leach off each other both offensively and defensively in the future.
